Best striker we had since Milito, or Ronaldo Nazario?

Where did you get his conversion rate from?

Whoscored says 2.7 shots per game in 49 games. That gives something like shy of 25%. Granted it has no data on the cup where he scored 2, but even that won't take it to 31.3%.

Yeah, best since Milito. Milito was absolute clutch, but there is still chance for Lukaku to become that clutch.

But what about Lautaro... Best second striker since?

We haven't deployed a second striker since 2014 though.

I honestly have no clue why we kept going with that silly 4-2-3-1. Inter needs to play with two up front.

Your reply to the fact that 2014 was the last year we played with 2 strikers up front is that we signed Icardi in 2013?

I also meant second striker as the second best striker we have. Because I would say Lukaku-Lautaro might be better than Icardi-Palacio, so it's more like Milito-Eto'o. Granted, Icardi-Palacio were good, but our 2020 duo looks more dynamic.

Who said anything about Ronaldo's record? and no he doesnt think of passing first and yes he is a diva on the pitch and this post is the perfect example of bias towards a player to try and justify anything in ur head. Carry on though
Yeah I know, biased. Funny thing though. I was also biased when I was in buyount mood when we signed him despite him "not scoring more than 20" and was biased when we got rid of icardi because "off the field stuff means shit and we are morons forcing him out".

You have a diva in your head. I heard man utd fans or others called Lukaku many things, but never heared him being described as diva on the pitch.

Talking about bias, pfff. If it was up to those "unbiased" people here on these forums he would be considered "30, 40mln tops" player and would never sniff the grass of San Siro.

Give me a fuckin break.

Ronaldo scored 34 goals in his debut season at Inter Milan. Lukaku is currently on 33.

Ronaldo's final goal of the season came in the UEFA Cup final.

Cause Spalletti and Mancini were just as stubborn as Conte is?

Ronaldo's final goal of the season came in the UEFA Cup final.

The similarity of the circumstances between that 97/98 season and this season. Finishing second in the league. Making it to the UEFA Cup/Europa League final. Impressive debut season of a high profile striker (Ronaldo/Lukaku).

Guess I'll just stop there. Don't want to continue by mentioning the expected potential similarity for our final game this season due to jinx alert.

I don't think Icardi would have agreed with you there

But the context is absolutely not similar.
When Ronnie came, Serie A was at it's peak. Now the difference in quality between the top teams and the lower end teams are to big.
When Ronnie played in Serie A, you had legendary defenders and football in it's whole was more competitive. That's why I don't fall for the numbers game.

Lukaku is a good striker don't get me wrong, but please..... don't compare stats from previous era's to those of today.

Didn't Ronnie also have better teamplayers around him?

To be honest with you, in my opinion Ronnie didn't have a better team around him.
Inter's strongest team of today (that means a team without Gagliardini ;) ) can easily hold a candle to that team of 97-98.

On top of that, Ronaldo came in as a 20y.o whereas Lukaku is a 26y.o so if they want to be disrespectful toward the greatest striker to ever live, let's put it in perspective.

Good first season though.

It's not untrue.

But you have to apply context. That team was phenomenal when you look at it, but relative to competition it wasn't so special, beside Ronaldo.
The 98-99 had more firepower, but Ronnie got injured.

Today we have a far better team when compared against competition, back then you could take up a selection of 20 players that weren't from Juventus from Serie A clubs and they'd all be potential starters. Now? Cannot really say that there's even 2.

We also have 20 teams instead of 18.

And the most important thing, Ronaldo scored 34/90 total goals, Lukaku is at 33/111. So relative to the team, Lukaku's effect is nowhere near Inter's 2010s top scorer levels even, let alone Ronaldo's.

I'll make a relative post soon after the final, going back from the 90s until this season, just to put a perspective on the records. Not just top scorers but mostly about goals scored.
