They've probably realized that the ownership is so desperate that there is no reason to improve their offer. It's likely they're regretting putting forth an offer in that region to begin with.

The more it gets drag on, the more difficult for the coach and team to adjust with new striker(s). Possibly the more difficult and expensive for us to get replacement given that it will be closer to start of the season. If only Zhang has common sense. But financial constraint can sometime makes people lose their common sense.

For me the strangest thing about this saga is Chelsea have offered a contract to Lukaku till he's 33 while they're usually very reluctant to offer long-term contracts to 30+ players. They have a policy of offering only one-year extensions to their 30+ players. This is another thing, apart from the transfer fee, that shows Chelsea are really desperate to get him. We should take advantage of it and get as much as we can.
