Obligatory post:

At the time of the shot, Handanovic has 3 bodies obstructing his view of the ball. And it deflects. So he has no clue where it's going.

Less than half a second after, the ball goes by Bastoni and this is when Handanovic finally sees the ball flying towards the goal:

He has 0,4 seconds to react to a rocket coming towards him, so he just waves his arms hoping to touch it away. He does not manage to reach the ball.




If you look at the entire defense from the beginning of their attack, we just collapsed in an orderly fashion. While the players kept their lines, it was just awful awareness. The reaction was very mechanic.
Just look at the midfielders. They did exactly what they'd do by the book, follow the ball and move along. Yet, there was no Juventus player there, so that was all out of the window, their players were further back and this situation just helped them via the deflection as we had no one at the edge of the box.


It started off with Bastoni being out of position, De Vrij having to mark Kulusevski and Darmian being confused since his player was still out wide. Then upon rectifying the line, Cuadrado was free to shoot and the goal happened. It should have ended before Kulusevski even touched the ball.


Anyway, people really have no idea of what goalkeepers are for in football because otherwise I cannot explain these silly outbursts....

That goal was more down to our mentality rather than Handanovic. 20 seconds before this, our 3 CBs were passing the ball to each other. It was evident that neither of them, or the rest of the team, wanted to play the ball and were just waiting for the HT whistle. But the geniuses managed to give away the ball, and then this happened.

It was that attitude which cost us. Regarding Handanovic, it wasn't an easy one at all.

There's no way someone with basic experience in football that will take the picture you just sent, knowing how fast the shot was, knowing that there were 3 bodies in front of the keeper, knowing that there was a deflection, knowing when the keeper first got sight of the deflected ball and say the things you just said....

There's no way someone with basic experience in football that will take the picture you just sent, knowing how fast the shot was, knowing that there were 3 bodies in front of the keeper, knowing that there was a deflection, knowing when the keeper first got sight of the deflected ball and say the things you just said....

Thankfully not the fat kid (yet). But if the ball went to right where I was. The deflection was outside the box which he seen, you're making an assumption that he didn't see it. He bent under the ball for whatever reason.
We've seen game after game after game where samir shits his pants against juve and this was another example I'm afraid.

Anyway, we're literally never going to change each others opinions on this. I think he should be doing much better. You don't. Fair enough.
