Napoli’s Zerbin and Popovic sign for Monza – report​

Napoli sent Matija Popovic and Alessio Zerbin to Monza and both players have now reportedly signed their contracts with Raffaele Palladino’s side.

Popovic has been one of the enigmas of the Serie A January transfer window. The 18-year-old Serbian talent was just a step away from signing for Milan at the start of this month before everything collapsed over the agent commissions.

Rubentus then emerged but faced the same hurdle for Popovic, leaving him available to Napoli, who initially wanted to send him out to Frosinone on loan before it became clear that the Giallazzurri didn’t have a non-EU player slot available. Luckily for the Partenopei, Monza didn’t have the same problem.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Popovic and Zerbin have now both signed their contracts for Monza, making them available to Palladino. The latter is joining on a simple six-month loan, but things are more complicated for the former.

Popovic is officially signing a six-month contract with Monza before he signs his contract with the Partenopei at the end of the season, when they’ll be able to register him in the squad.

According to Calciomercato.it, the proposal from the Turkish side is currently at €5m, just half what the Aquile are asking for.

If the two clubs do not move towards each other significantly, then Galatasaray could veer on to different targets, such as former Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen of Manchester United.

Jubentus have reportedly clinched a deal for Palmeiras teenage defender Pedro Felipe

The centre-back is due to celebrate his 20th birthday in May and it seems he will be doing that in Turin with the Rubentus NextGen squad in Serie C.

According to multiple sources, an agreement has been reached to sign Pedro Felipe on loan from Palmeiras with an option to buy at the end of the season for €2m.

Lecce sell Strefezza to Fabregas and Como

Lecce have agreed the sale of Brazilian winger Gabriel Strefezza to Serie B side Como, where he will work with coach Cesc Fabregas.

Multiple sources are confident the deal is done and Strefezza should have his medical on Monday, after one final appearance in the Lecce jersey.

The cost of the operation should be circa €5m, representing a big profit, as he cost just €500,000 to buy.

The 26-year-old is under contract until June 2025, with an option to extend for one more season, and arrived from SPAL in the summer of 2021.
