Well Han i think you got what i am trying to say but there is a bit missing.
Veron didnt perform for 3 seasons unless in a few matches, injury prone and didnt put an effort to even learn english and was more of a burden. Even when Becks left, people kept saying now Veron will play on the right and perform well, and then he went to the pre season tour last year and was magnificent really but the emergence of Fletcher and the offer utd got for veron was simply very attractive and no club could turn it down.

Now Di Vaio in the first season wasnt used much, and at the end of the season when given a chance, he played well. Then last season he was used in the beginning and performed very well and then his rate declined but mainly because he used to come as a substitute and even Mico the wonder kid was doing nothing. The whole Juve team was very bad throughout the season, except Zambrotta i can say. So why blame Di Vaio..?

Lets look at the striker at Valencia. Angulo and Mista are really no where near Di Vaio. Angulo been there for years and hardly established himselves. Coraddi who played a lot for lazio is really no where near Di Vaio, i would pick the latter any time of the day..!

The thing is i am trying to say that Juve gained a lot of money but at the same time i would never rate Di Vaio with less than that amount. I mean Heskey left to Birmingham for 7 million pounds and he used to be a starter at liverpool except last season, does this mean he is better than Di Vaio!!

When Fowler left from Liverpool to Leeds, he was a starter and leeds paid a lot to get him, but it was clear Fowler can never give like before but it is clear that a player like Di Vaio can give a lot, really.. I cant believe i am the only one who can see that.
I can give more example really.

So to summarize all this in 2 points:
1. Yes Juve gained a lot because he was a bench player
2. But Valencia gained a lot too because Di Vaio is an excellent striker.

Pravesh:
you are right about my name..:)
Anyway about Baros, when Di Vaio was his age he was top scorer in the serie A. This might tell you something ;)
And about him being a starter in the national team, it is mainly because there are no strikers available. I mean Koller is a starter since more than 5 years.lol
About Di Vaio's place in the national team, do you think if Baros was Italian he would have been picked ahead of Vieri and Cassano.. ? I doubt.

But i am sure DI Vaio would break into the Czech squad easy.

One last thing guys:
Valencia has a lot of money and they got also money for winning the league and uefa cup this year, so 10 million euros will not kill them. And whom do you think they would have got for 10 million euros..?
Please anyone name a striker worth 10 million euros who is a better player than Di Vaio.

I guess that enlightens me a bit. I also consider Di Vaio a good player. But then again I only saw the guy a handfull of times. So I will have to trust those who have seen him more.

Of topic: Angulo is not a striker, Sheriff. He is a RM. I have only seen him play as striker in extreme emergencies. ;)

He is a midfielder yes but played as a striker or behind the striker on many occasions thats why i consider him there, because the right flank is mainly covered by rufete. Same with Sissoko who is originally a striker and played as a central midfielder for them when the strikers are not injured.

Pravesh i know that delpiero and trezegol would be starters but that does not mean its right. If Mico. took Delpiero's place and the attack consisted of Di Vaio and Trezegl then this would be just superb. BUT who listens, Juve would never afford losing inconsistent del boy!

I simply cannot find myself to understand the people who think Del Piero making the starting linuep at Juventus is simply favoritism. That is plain rubbish, the guy hasn't been on best form but neither has Miccoli. Another thing that people seem to pull out of their ass is how DP hasn't performed in years, but in 2002/2003 when Juventus got to the Champions League final he was one of their main performers.

Untill you guys get off Miccoli's jock and realize he has done absolutely nothing to take Alex's spot, then you'll get what i am saying. No one here can deny when DP is healthy, and this was his first real unhealthy season in a couple of years that he's a genius.

Juve paid $26M to buy DiVaio, now they sell him for $10M and they are winners? Regardless of his role or value, juve lost money in this deal.

And this talk about him not being a good player is nonsense. He was second top-scorer three season ago with an average team. His dip in form is due to him not starting. Imagine Vieri, Ronaldo or Raul coming of the bench game-in game-out, they won't be as good.

The bad thing is that we should've got him when we sold Ronaldo instead of Crespo. Vieri -- DiVaio would've been an ideal partnership.

That's what I meant. Baros is helped by that, as that means that Baros gets his chance to play for his national team in big competitions, kinda regularly and that counts alot. In today's transfer market, the performance in big competitions like World Cup and EURO matters a lot, and there is where Baros gets a bonus point. He gets to play and he scores and his value rises.

Marco Di Vaio might also had made it to the Czech team had he been from Czech, but he's not and he has to compete with the likes of Vieri-Totti-Cassano-Del Piero and now Gilardino, which makes it hard for him.

As I said earlier in my other posts, I won't get amazed if Marco Di Vaio scores tons of goals in Spain, as he might get to play regularly, which counts alot.

It's just like what Handoyo said : It's just like Inter buying Veron for $15 million. There's no doubt that Veron used to be a great midfielder, but his past few seasons have not gone well. And it would had been a very very bad move by us had we spent that much money for Veron. Oh yeah, the only difference here would be their ages. :)

;)

Sheriff: Regardless of the reason why Di Vaio played badly for Juve, it's still a risk, is it not? The simple fact is that Di Vaio played badly when used, albeit inconsistently. Let me try and use another example. Kluivert and Newcastle, let's say. Let's assume that Newcastle didn't get him for free but from a transfer than cost 10 m Euros and Patrick gets a reasonably high wage. I consider this to be a risk because even though Patrick is Dutch NT all-time top-scorer and has a good reputation, he was rarely used last season and played badly in the last 2 seasons.

Barca made a loss if they sell him at 10 m Euros but considering that they wanna sell Patrick out and he's transfer listed, they are earning profit in a non-financial way.

And about who could be a better striker at 10 m Euros, they don't even need to spend it since Mista is a fantastic prospect who scored 19/20 goals in La Liga alone last season. Rather than getting Marco, I suggest they succumb to or negotiate a new contract with Mista. If it ain't broken, why fix it?

Maresca seems to be on his way to Fiorentina (loan/co-ownership).

I am kinda shocked that Maresca is not wanted by Juve, but I am happy that they won't have the service of Maresca. I thought that he would had been of great use in Juve, but good that Capello didn't want him.

Good for Fiorentina;)

Probably a move to pave the way for Emerson if this is true.

Well then. Maresca is a Fiorentina player now. And Zagorakis, the Greece captain has joined Bologna. What next?

Mista is not happy with the contract and i agree they should give him a better one because he proved himself.
About Kluivert, the guy rarely scored 2 seasons ago even though he was used a lot. The club wants him out, the fans, etc.. But Di Vaio wanted to prove himself.
Anyway enough about the juve player, we r talkin about him so much..:D

I'm suprised Juve let Maresca go to Fiorentina since he did so well at seasons end. Though if Emerson is added they should be all right.

BTW did Fiorentina sign Di Natale already??

Add him with Nakata, Maresca, Guigou, and some more good signings and Fiorentina could be challenging for a UEFA Cup spot

Juve letting Maresca go is like Inter letting Emre go for me

I am indeed very surprised by this move of Juventus, therefore I am very happy. ;)

Maresca could have found it difficult to get the starting spot, but he wud had been of great use as back up player in juve. I would say that it is a bad move by Juve. Congrats, I am happy Moggi ;)

Or is Juve eager to buy Vieira :dielaugh:

I am with you on this Pravesh. I am astonished everyday by Capello's mind. He lets Di Vaio and Maresca, while extending to Trezegol and keeping the faith in Del Piero..
And above all, assuring everyone that Thuram will be a centre back.! IMO Thuram is a joke at that place.

My opinions on Capello's decisions in Juve:

(1) Kept Trezeguet - It's better than to spend $$ for Vieri. Good decision.
(2) Marco Di Vaio - They got good amount of $$, so here again, I agree.
(3) Maresca - Terrible decision.

:) ;)

Well I can´t really comment on Di Vaio since I have only seen him 5-10 times. However if they don´t get a better replacement it is a big mistake.

Maresca I hear is a great talent a la Emre. However I only saw him 2-3 times so I am careful to comment on him too.

Keeping Trezeguet was wise. However it was to be expected.

I haven't seen Maresca play many times, but from what i have seen and heard he's a very promising midfielder. The Gobbi fans are really pissed about losing this kid, perhaps Capello has made a mistake in letting him so.

One thing i'll never forget is a couple of years ago when i was watching the Turin derby his celebration was freaking hillarious even if i was rooting for Torino. :p

Is it just me who thinks Trezeguet is one piece of crap player? Whenever he doesn´t score, I never notice him on the field. I can go a whole match and wondering if he´s in the lineup because he hasn´t scored.

He contributes absolutely nothing to a team (and this is why France keeps failing as well), and he´s to me one of the most overrated players ever.

That Juventus decided to extend his contract was a great decision.... for Inter! :p
