Hopefully I don't sound too much like a SJW twinkie, I'm just trying to put myself in other people's shoes, when it's race related things.
You do sound like a SJW twinkle. Doesn't make us like you any less
Have you seen BBC's Troy? I felt humiliated by the concept. I did watch it just to see if at least it was good enough to ignore the complete heresy. It was not. First 1/10 I've given on IMDB. Probably the only one.
Character miscasting is something that alarms people a bit, but it's not a deal breaker. Deal breakers is when they're shoved in your face. Like the DC tv shows. They lure you in and then it's all about woke bullshit. Even the Arrow which was the most serious of them all has this shit.
So when it's people getting roles that aren't factually correct because of race there is a big glaring hole that hollywood continued. If we had white people playing Jesus, Egyptians, Asians, people from the arctic pole,.. etc., then it has to be acceptable for people of other race to get better roles too, right? Everybody wants to be treated as people and treated as equals.
Well, Jesus was Canaanite and Israelis are typically white, so I don't see this being an issue. More like a non-issue that alternative history wants to change. At worst, a more Levantine tone would suffice, similar to the Orthodox version of Jesus rather than the Americanized blondish version which is surreal.
He was not Semitic, the Semitic people dominated that area later. It includes the Arabs. But for some reason now Semite has been entanged with languages and cultures and it means something completely different and predominantly Jewish.
Egyptians were Levantine people, slightly darker but not really very dark. They were slightly more dark than your average Mediterranean (Greeks, Romans, Phoenicians etc) person or Persian person, but no more dark than your average Indian person. Casting them as northern European white is quite wrong, but typically Egyptians aren't cast at all. The later Pharaohs during Roman times were of Greek ancestry so casting them as white is factual. Older period Pharaoh movies (unless we go 60s and earlier) typically have Egyptians correctly cast with a bronze tan let's say. Unless it's some mythological affair where, yeah, you're right there. The Nubians for example were black and they tend to be portrayed as such.
No clue on Arctic people, don't recall a movie with them but usually it's Eskimos/Asian looking people cast there in the films I can think of.
