Just started watching Jigeum Uri Hakgyoneun on netflix - All of Us Are Dead, direct by J.Q. Lee & Kin Nam-Soo.

Fantastic wee gem, normal day at school in Korea then an unknown virus gets out and an infection spreads.. every student for themselves!

I'm only a few episodes in but I am hooked, going to go walk the pup and then get sofa ready!

If you have time ,just watch the Netflix documentary named The Tinder Swindler.

That ordinary Israeli guy is a true legend. You'll get what I mean when you watch

just saw the netflix trailer for The Sandman and I'm disappointed and definitely staying away after looking into it a bit more. The characters are HORRIBLY miscast and you can tell they did it for the sake of woke diversity. They even have the pronouns next to the characters

Is it that big of a deal? Any person I've met that told me her/his/they pronoun wasn't really demanding from me that this is the new normal and that I must by all means never make a mistake and call them by the wrong pronoun.

Also isn't Desire non-binary in the comic book as well?

Also Death as a character doesn't really exist, so who gets to play her/him doesn't really matter?

I hope the show does good, because I love Sandman, probably my fav. Gaiman work. To some Olympic games matter, to some their pronouns matter, to some religion is important - and to some all of these things are stupid and matter less than last year's snow. It's just a different way of thinking and I don't mind it.

Yes Desire is an anthro character in the comics and that's fine but hiring a "non-binary" person to play the role is just 1 more woke thing to the bigger picture. Death has never been black in the comic, I think most people would agree she's supposed to be an Asian or white goth. I get that the those characters look different to each person in the comics but Death has a look to the audience that has almost gone unchanged throughout the story. Desire would have been better off played by multiple actors imo.

Even Unity is part of a rich white family in the comics is now a black character.

Also language does matter and is a poor "different way of thinking". You can't change basic language to fit your personal feelings.

Have you ever seen the tv show Lucifer? It's meant to be the same world as Sandman, but it obviously isn't. The main character looks different, acts different, doesn't even feel like the same character - he helps a detective for christs sake. None of the main plots of Lucifer the comic (or Sandman) are present in the Lucifer tv show, making it almost a soap opera with some light detective elements.

Nobody is in uproar because the expected quality isn't there to begin with. If you don't think about it, Lucifer can be even fun at certain times, Mazikeen a big part of that.

With the Sandman project its different because everybody have their own perfect vision of it, like it's supposed to be the Lord of the Rings of TV media. I'll say this - if they really casted great actors and the script won't stray too far from the original, all those 'why is Death black?' type of questions won't matter in the long run. We both want the same, even if we don't agree about 'inclusion casting ruining a tv show'. American Gods was casted amazingly. I believe this cast to be on the same level overall

Yeah I've seen quite a bit of Lucifer and know it was based on the Lucifer character from Sandman. I'm fine with what it is because it's a fun show and Tom Ellis is amazing in the role, but from what I remember Lucifer was quite a charismatic character in Sandman and I think the show pays tribute to that well. But yeah I treat it as its own separate thing because that's what it is.

Even if the show is written well people will still question why some of the characters had their races changed because I think it does matter. It's especially puzzling for Death considering she's the merchandise cash cow for the series and easily the most recognizable. I'm not going to watch the show anyway but I'd be surprised if it goes past season 1.

The whole race thing is just annoying because all they do is make the character black..

What about Asians and Hispanics?

Asians are white so you get a dope Asian and it’s like ok I can see that being death. If you see a Jim lee drawing of Batman or Wolverine then see a buff Korean dude you will go ok cool.

Some new characters were created as none white. Just promote them Damian Wayne. Batman’s son is middle eastern as his mom is middle eastern.

But yea when the character is a red head and then they always just make them black in live action. That’s cool but like there are other races. Also at least make the girl pretty. I hate when they race swap people then go ok well we need a average looking person because ugly peoples need representation as well

Its just stupid having a discussion about it. So many different kinds, it would be impossible to fit everyone in.

Yes, I agree but when they talk about diversity they just mean gay or black people.

Literally the majority of people on earth are Asian Either east or south Asian. How many are in these movies. I wasn’t against Liam Nielsen being cast as a Asian guy. They went the route that it is a title. As a 5k year old Asian guy who takes lava baths is hard to make realistic.

I just hate the diversity argument because it’s why not make this establish character fat, black or gay!

While I understand the sentiment - like a
british queen being played by a black woman is silly in many ways - but we are talking about fictional characters. If they chose that actor or that actress to be the best fit, I'm all up for it. Especially because, again, it's based on fiction. The appearances don't matter as much as the characters itself.

Now, the more progressive people don't just want inclusion for inclusion sake, we live in a white ruled world with mostly important history happening to white people - or that is how we, the whites, act about everything. Especially Europeans and USA/Canada barely know stuff about other places like Asia or Africa that are also rich with history, but that never became mainstream - except for Japan and partly China.
So when it's people getting roles that aren't factually correct because of race there is a big glaring hole that hollywood continued. If we had white people playing Jesus, Egyptians, Asians, people from the arctic pole,.. etc., then it has to be acceptable for people of other race to get better roles too, right? Everybody wants to be treated as people and treated as equals.

I hope in 20 years the hard SJW and the antiSJW fighting will stop and things like these won't be controversial anymore. Just the people perception has to update, like it did with many things in the last 60 years.

Hopefully I don't sound too much like a SJW twinkie, I'm just trying to put myself in other people's shoes, when it's race related things.

You do sound like a SJW twinkle. Doesn't make us like you any less :p

Have you seen BBC's Troy? I felt humiliated by the concept. I did watch it just to see if at least it was good enough to ignore the complete heresy. It was not. First 1/10 I've given on IMDB. Probably the only one.

Character miscasting is something that alarms people a bit, but it's not a deal breaker. Deal breakers is when they're shoved in your face. Like the DC tv shows. They lure you in and then it's all about woke bullshit. Even the Arrow which was the most serious of them all has this shit.

So when it's people getting roles that aren't factually correct because of race there is a big glaring hole that hollywood continued. If we had white people playing Jesus, Egyptians, Asians, people from the arctic pole,.. etc., then it has to be acceptable for people of other race to get better roles too, right? Well, Jesus was Canaanite and Israelis are typically white, so I don't see this being an issue. More like a non-issue that alternative history wants to change. At worst, a more Levantine tone would suffice, similar to the Orthodox version of Jesus rather than the Americanized blondish version which is surreal.
He was not Semitic, the Semitic people dominated that area later. It includes the Arabs. But for some reason now Semite has been entanged with languages and cultures and it means something completely different and predominantly Jewish.

Egyptians were Levantine people, slightly darker but not really very dark. They were slightly more dark than your average Mediterranean (Greeks, Romans, Phoenicians etc) person or Persian person, but no more dark than your average Indian person. Casting them as northern European white is quite wrong, but typically Egyptians aren't cast at all. The later Pharaohs during Roman times were of Greek ancestry so casting them as white is factual. Older period Pharaoh movies (unless we go 60s and earlier) typically have Egyptians correctly cast with a bronze tan let's say. Unless it's some mythological affair where, yeah, you're right there. The Nubians for example were black and they tend to be portrayed as such.
No clue on Arctic people, don't recall a movie with them but usually it's Eskimos/Asian looking people cast there in the films I can think of.

As a none white person it’s annoying that when a handsome Hispanic guy is finally shown he is fking gay!!!

Or he is really ugly and fat but funny. Or he is a janitor.

Then when they show a Hispanic woman she is hot and something the main white actor lust for. It’s like you can’t make a hot woman without a remotely handsome dad.

Same with Asians. Women = hot. Men = trolls. Or at least that’s what movies tv lead you to believe. Funny enough Black men are considered handsome but the women are usually shown as being gross. Like for the men 90% of the athletes in the US are black so hard to like the 7 foot, muscle bound super hero isn’t attractive

New shows are trying really hard to change that for black women. The black girl in the 1st Spider-Man movie was a fking smoke show!!! The one on the flash is dope as well as the one who plays Batwoman.

It clearly depends what tv show or movie you are watching. I've always thought Jada Pinkett and Halle Berry are amongst best looking women in showbiz

There is gonna be a boom of beautiful Asian actors and performers (especially since K-pop blew up and because Japanese men on Youtube are poppin' off in views, I think the Western public is just waiting for the next Bruce Lee), they just need to learn better english. They already are, I feel.

Russian translations took over the comment section.

A ton of fans are reacting negative to the appearance of a black Elven dude. And for a lot of miscasting.
