I did say that I didn't like slangs. But I didn't mean slangs like wanna or gonna which I even like to use. I meant other slangs :star: , which I will point out when I see any of our friends write.

Funny thing I really don't mind slangs or issues with capital letters or if the whole thing is in caps lock. What I do mind is the quotes that aren't trimed and posts not in a paragraph structure.

Ok, maybe i should have rephrased my statement to reflect a clearer meaning, lest some of you misunderstand the intent of my post.

I meant to say that proper writing is essential for posts. I'm sure most of us would appreciate if somebody writes in a manner that is proper, hence making it easier to read, and for myself, more enjoyable. I would not be able to go through an entire post filled with CAPS or even words written in short-form throughout. IMO, posts cluttered with such a writing style can easily lose my interest, unless the content within is important.

I am not here to be a grammar policeman, nor a vocabulary one. And i hope you guys don't make me out to be one - i am just pointing out the fact that writing properly does make your posts more appealing to the general public, and helps get your message across better. I don't mind small grammar, vocabulary or spelling mistakes; they are not the essential mistakes that bother me. What does bother me, is when a person doesn't take the effort to present his post in a more presentable manner.

There, i hope you guys got the intent of my post. Was that presentable enough? ;)

Ciao,
Tim

To be honest, i have always been annoyed by people who refuse to use caps on player nams and team names. Only a few members through all the message boards that i have been too that i ever read their post even though their writing style was very irritating. Some of you may know them, to name a few the two XT Inter forum legends - Tazz and Falcao.

I was quite young before and had one of the most ridiculous styles, looking back on i do believe that almost none of the members payed attention to what i was saying. Who can blame them though? if you don't care about making your post presentable and decently written then it doesn't deserve to be read and replied to by others. But basically if you don't abuse the enter button, use decent grammar and have paragraphs between your post to make it easier on the eyes then it should be a good read.

Tim, you speak like a freaking dictionary dude. I have read so many of those long articles you write and you're really passionate and knowledgable. I know what the words you are saying mean, but i am not creative enough to use big words in my post describing anything. :D

Great thread! :star:

Everything has been said already, but i just wanna add few things that i dislike:
  1. One liners (<- chat messages = use your Pm´s or MSN for that!)
  2. IMO, LMAO and all that young kid stuff. (I really dont get it why someone says IMO when he submit´s his post = isn´t it ALWAYS his own opinion when he post? Why add that stupid IMO there!)
  3. ;) smilies (It looks arrogant when you quote someone, write something and then add ;) smilie there = it means as if you are right and the other poster wasn´t).
I dont know if it´s possible, but i would like to have that "ignore user" button in here. No offense to anyone, but i dont have time to read all these posts in this forum.

Edit: Typo

Well, IMO, it seems i am guilty of all of the crimes that Tommi has put forth, especially the 2nd and 3rd ones. IMO, i don't see anything wrong with that. ;)

:dielaugh::lol::howler: LMAO (Just to piss Don Tommi off) to the last 4 posts. :D Well, ';)' is my favourite smilie. I think it's easy to judge whether it's used as a friendly eye contact or as an arrogant sign, isn't it? ;)

I hate people who use too many smilies in one post.

I hate people who quote a very long post just to add a few lines of their own comments to it. And then some idiot comes and quotes the whole thing again and adds a smilies to it or something. It looks horrible.

Most of my points are already listed above in this thread so I`ll shut up for now.

PS. If I sometimes miss a capital letter somewhere it`s because my shift hasn`t been working that well since I spilled yoghurt on my keyboard a couple of days ago. :p

Hate? Idiots? For crying out lout, chill mate!

I like when a post is properly written. I moved to England 4 years ago and I learned English at college. Therefore I try to spell accurately and to use good grammar.

I also studied administration last year, so I learned a lot about paragraphs, punctuation and such.

I always read the posts though, even if they're poorly spelled or constructed. Some people are not so confident with the computer, and many know English but just as a 2nd language.

Ohh err... I wasn't Riku, really. Just trying to say that I read the post anyway, when some guys said that they just can't if they're badly constructed :)

Oh right, I just noticed that I quoted you in that post, but I said wasn't directed at you Riku, but at the many people who said similar things.

And I wasn't judging, just saying that I do different :)

And by the way, LOL at that:
If I sometimes miss a capital letter somewhere it`s because my shift hasn`t been working that well since I spilled yoghurt on my keyboard a couple of days ago.
