First and foremost:
Who the fuck are FC Vaslui?
Funny but fair question.
FC Vaslui are officially founded in 2002 but have made rapid and big developments due to smart financial movements, just like
CFR Cluj (founded in 1907, but started to perform after 2002 when the club was taken over by someone with money). They actually finished 2nd in the league last year, almost winning it.
They have just sold
Paul Papp to Serie A, so the defence has weakened and their tactician is relatively n00b and impulsive (which makes him look like a thug fool).
They have also sold their 31 year old Liga 1 topscorer
Wesley Lopes da Silva for 3m Euro! So that's a huge threat away, just look at his stats vito, he's ON FIRE! 37 goals in 43 games (all competitions), Europe 6 apps 3 goals, Cup: 5 apps 7 goals, League 32 apps 27 goals.
On the paper this should be a walk in the park for Inter to make it to the group stages.
Should be.
Not really. Fenerbahce keeps on getting good players and they had a difficult time with this team! I really hope INTER do their homework and don't underestimate them!
Meanwhile FC Vaslui are getting reinforcements, with
Liviu Antal being one of the promising players they've got.
They have also experienced players such as
Lucian Sânmărtean [probably their most skilled player, but inconsistent] who was elected the best romanian player of the year in Liga 1, and 2nd best romanian player of the year after Torje [Udinese]...
Another threat could be strong & experienced forward
Marius Niculae, but like I said their defence is not that good. They usually try to play offensive and nice attacking football, and romanian teams have this "traditional" fighting spirit that can boost their determination for BIG GAMES like this one! Plus the
financial motivation, their patron will spend like crazy (payed them considerable amount of money for a DRAW against Fenerbahce).
Piatra Neamt (where the match will be played due to Stadium UEFA conditions) is far far away from here [Arad, west of Romania], I find it difficult to go there (never been in Moldova region so far), I could rather get an airplane straight to Milano from Arad
But we are still considering this trip.
