Impressive debut, indeed. He looks intelligent on the pitch and does handle well pressure.

We needed this kind of quick midfielder who can not only maintain posession, but also recover it!

He will definitely be blamed for his performance against Roma. But still, I'm glad to have him (but not Cambiasso) to sit in the hole. He's just so, so fast. Him pushing around is better than Cambiasso pointing his finger and waving his hands every 5 seconds.

Actually you have to look closer to his performance. He makes great forward runs , some good interceptions while pressing high , some great long passes and this create the idea of a good performance but he was absent in the first 2 goals we took tonight.

Florenzi got free in the area in the 1st goal , and it was the dm that is supposed to mark him . In the 2nd goal and in general really Totti was alwasy free to put through balls . When totti was playing in the middle gargano gave him too much freedom. He used to try to press high and left acres of spaces behind .

This 2 components of the game are smth that Dm needs to do , and like it or not Cambiasso does them very well.

But IMO Gargano is not most effective as DM. I mean he can play there too but he leaves too much space between the lines. Roma had a field day today in the midfield. Gargano seriously needs to look a bit where he's running at if he's being played as DM. Obi can probably make his life easier since Pereira isn't a midfielder accustomed of covering space in the middle and Cambiasso is just slow.

Otherway around Cambi/Mudi as DM and Gargano running everywhere as LCM sounds better.

that is how they play in napoli strama didn't explain to him that inter does not play like napoli. napoli is high pressing team maybe or maybe not strama told him press high

He is not a DM and shouldn't be played as one. He does not have the discipline. Very similar to when Inter play deki or Motta there. Yeah, they can pass better than cuchu in the offensive side of things, but on defensive side, they simply cannot keep their composure and have the discipline to sit there and read the game.

Like it or not, that's what cuchu excels at; discipline and reading the game. May not be great in the tackle but reads the games and makes interceptions.

As cafe said, gargano as LCM or RCM is better imo with Cuchu/Mudingayi as DM.

I cant blame Strama for not starting Cambiasso, he obviously needed rest, but going with Gargano outright as a DM was quite a risk in such a crucial match vs a strong attacking team.

I hope he gets a more accurate long sighted rotational system next time. but I believe he is still testing, so no pressure.

I think the problem in midfield was that Pereira ended up playing as pure left midfielder instead of a LCM and he left us unbalanced at times, I'd like to add Pereira was a beast in his debut game. Gazzetta said that Gargano had the most touches on the ball for us and the most successful passes he seems to be man who starts our play.

First half he was all over the place. The amount of ground he covered was unreal. He gave everything he could in the first half. In the second half the only person that couldn't see he was tired was Strama. Hence the two ignorant subs he made tonight.
