I would say Italy’s chances are 70/30. They should go through but Sweden has a legitimate chance. I think they were easily the worst draw for a seeded team. They beat France not too long ago.

Sweden!?

Denmark got a new headcoach before the start of the qualification which resulted in a difficult start due to new tactics and a more extensively use of younger players.

We have however played better for each match and we would have won the group if it wasn't because of the first two or three matches.

Ireland is a great team with the best fans. They don't have the same good individual players as us but are instead a hard working team with a great spirit which means it will be two very tough matches. Denmark is IMO the favourite due to our last five performances but not more than 60-40 in favour.

I read some article after the draw made going through the Danish team, it said you guys haven't really settled on an attack yet with changes most games.

We will 99% be playing for a 0-0 in the opening leg in Denmark so you're going to need some firepower.

It seems like the first choice mostly have been:

Sisto - Jørgensen - Poulsen

In which Jørgensen has been injured lately but will be back against you guys.

The problem with the attack is the inexperience we have with the players at these positions. Take a look on the age of our forwards/wingers.

Kasper Dolberg - 20 yo
Pione Sisto - 22 yo
Yussuf Poulsen - 23 yo
Victor Fischer - 23 yo
Andreas Cornelius - 24 yo
Martin Braithwaite - 26 yo
Nicolai Jørgensen - 26 yo
Nicklas Bendtner - 29 yo

And only Bendtner (77) and Jørgensen (26) have played more than 25 NT matches.

Damn. I can't wait for the matches.

This Pavard lad who plays for Stuttgart selected for France today. I watched him a couple of times looks a really solid defender probably wouldn't cost a whole lot either and only 21.

Also Naingollan won't be selected for Belgium as Martinez sees him as a ten and they have that position covered. They miss a world class midfielder and select guff like defour , witsel and Fellaini. I'm a big fan of RN it would be a crime for him not to go to the World Cup.

I guess it is time for Laporte to choose Spain instead of France. How he can be overlooked time after time is a big question in my eyes.

Yea it is bizarre he got called a couple of times but never played, strange especially considering France aren't exactly blessed with great centre backs. Pavard is younger so Deschamps must have him more in mind for the future.

Laporte is just 2 years older and has done well at Athletic for five years now with interest from much bigger clubs like Real Madrid, Man City ect. He even captained most of the French under-something NT teams that he played for. It doesn't make any sense at all.

To be fair Laporte isn't in good form at Athletic , they are conceding lots of goals and are near the bottom of la liga. He really needs a fresh challenge.

Naingollan is selected after all. He must be delighted to Lin up beside the great Boyata again.

Don't forget the fact their coach left them for Barcelona after a long period without anyone knowing if he would stay or not. Then the management in Athletic decided to promote their second team coach instead of hiring one with experience which seems to be a big mistake. Also add two other big factors in their other great CB (Yeray) had a positive test for cancer this summer (sadly the second time for him) and Muniain out with an injury for probably the rest of the season.

Croatia is too good for Greece. It's amazing how a population of under 5 million keep producing generations of good talented footballers.

Having said that, Greece pulled one back

Perisic with the goal, tap in header. Great cross by Vrsaljko, terrible defending by a player who shouldn't be playing (Maniatis).

by the way, manolas was suspended for one of the most idiotic reasons: he made it so that the referee booked him at the end of the match with cyprus, so that he would be suspended for the match against gibraltar and play in the play-off with no suspension threat on his head. but uefa noticed that and added another match of suspension (by the rule which was implemented just a few years ago). what an idiot.

I wish Croatia scores more. 3/4 of that Greek team don't deserve to be there but if the Faroe games didn't signal that, I don't think any thrashing will ever manage to rectify the situation where the Federation dictates the lineups and the player selections to accommodate certain... wishes. Such a shame for those who deserve to be there.
