Walter Samuel,
I agree. If we are playing a highline we need some pacey CBs. I'm a bit worried for Samuel this season. He failed at Real Madrid in their high backline (his lack of pace was exposed). He could struggle again this season.

He had beckham and guti as dmc's. That's why he got exposed that badly. Our dmc's are better.

We are linked to Sebastian Coates, a 19 years old Uruguayan CB with very brutal phisique (1,96 m and 86 kg) He plays in Nacional Montevideo and in U20 NT.

There was an interview with him on fcinternews.

I want to ask you guys... Is it just me or do you too think that the fcinternews interviews are fake. I don't know why but they give that impression when i read . They seem like it is me or anyone who answers to those questions , they're like facebook conversations. Does anyone know anything of this site seriosity because you can find there some news that are not published anywhere else..
The coates roumor is an example of what i wrote above....

Why fake? Those exclusives are when they call some agents and interview them. Rumors are gathered from different people in the game (agents, club executives or minor club people). Rumors doesn't mean they will actually happen, they are just what the paper/website hears from different people, what kind of talks might be going on, what kind of inquiries there have come to the club and from which clubs and so on. Rumors are normally nothing special during the season (not like in mercato), just a little inquiries or mentions of a certain club or something.

Why would Udinese let go Zapata for free? Burdisso has no value because he sucks.

i think we're actually looking at CBs that are mobile and tactically savy enough to play DM as well

This Zapata link is fantastic btw. Best targets are those who have already played at Italy for quite some time, most preferably starters in their teams. In Italy you get probably the best tactical sense in the world and for defenders that's highly important. Zapata would be a huge signing. That would of course mean getting rid of either Chivu or Samuel as I don't believe Inter try to persuade Cordoba and Materazzi to leave. Samuel as three years older might be the guy going. As much as I like him, maybe it's time to him to go. We can't afford to have too many old defenders in the squad, precisely because of the future.

Wooh...Zapata would be perfect signing. Young defender, with serie a experience. He is already great defender, and in inter he would become even better.

:) Now its my Fifa 09 team :)

All we need to do now is buy Falcao:lol:

Zapata to me would replace Cordoba and Samuel. He would be start along with Lucio.

Bayern and Real Madrid also want him so no way Udinese will let him go for our junk. Kid is a badd ass he played a world cup qualifier with a broken checkbone after a brutal elbow to the face for 60 minutes. Guy is def a warrior, also he pown'd Henry when we playd a friendly against France tho Henry had to dive for Pk

Lucio wasn't the best buy, since he is on the wrong side of 30. We have 2 legends in Cafe and Matrix who will retire in next 2 seasons. Our youngest defender Chivu is already 28. We should not resign Cafe and Samuel and try to buy defenders younger than 25 in next 2-3 summers.

I totally agree with you. I've been screaming for zapata quite some time now. He's perfect for us, young, knows italian football, and he has great qualities. And if we can get rid of burdisso, rivas and maybe one of the older defenders that would be even better.

He can be counted as asso-trained in CL-list?

He was born on Sept 30 1986 and plays in Udine since 2005. So he was 21 years old at the 2007-2008 season and if it counts as his third year, he is "italian".

i remember UEFA rule says the season when age 21.
