He's more offensive that Deki and Motta. He has great dribbling ability, good shot, lots of pace, ariel threat in the box, great vision. I would prefer Toure over Gerrard, given Gerrard's age, form, injury problems.

Very few players that have Yaya's skill set, combined with physical attributes, IMHO.

Problem for him, at Barca, has been that he hasn't been called upon often to contribute to the offensive attack very much...He does however more so for Côte d'Ivoire....With Xavi & Iniesta out, he had to play this role and he was MOTM, as a result

But he is still more defensive than offensive, we want players that are purely offensive.

Don't think we want another am.

What we want is someone who is box to box but leaning more towards the offensive side.

Maybe you guys are right and the reason I see yaya as a defensive players is because I have only seen him with barca where he has been more defensive.

A player like Gerrard, Hamsik or Lampard....someone who can play as a central midfielder but is more offensive than our midfielders. Thats what i meant.

You know who i have in mind if we cant get Gerrard or Hamsik? Lucho Gonzalez, we were always linked to him and he just finished a great season with Marseille, another option would be Lassana Diarra who is also a great central midfielder. I prefer any of these 4 to Toure.

Lucho wouldn't be bad. Diarra is a bit too defensive imho.

Stef, i know he may seem so but he is just a great player, he isnt just good at defensive work, going forward he is very good, has great passing abilities and has a great shot on him, very underrated if you ask me. Keep in mind that anyone we get will probably play in midfield behind Sneijder so he has to be good at build up play, passing and also do well in the defensive department, all the players i mentioned fit the bill, Hamsik the least of these players though but he is still a good option. And Inler as well is very good.

Lucho
Diarra
Gerrard
Hamsik
Inler

one of these would be great

Lassana Diarra would be awesome.

Totally agree, Lass next to Cambiasso would be ridiciously good. In our current system, a more offensive midfielder would be detrimental to the balance. Cambiasso cannot cover for Maicon, Sneijer, Eto'o, Pandev, Milito and 1 more. I think Yaya would be good as he obviously offers a physical presence which we are lacking a little.

Perhaps we should just offload Muntari or Motta and allow Krhin and Mariga to make a real push for a starting shirt. Plus we have Fossati and Crisetig so why not give them room for growth.

Ultimately, 5 Scudetti means we need to give our youth a chance now because otherwise, a lot of effort, time and money with the primavera would end up being totally wasted.

No thanks to Lass. Are we still linked to Fabregas by any chance?

I say we go for D'Agostino.

Fabregas will never come here....and yes he may be good but we dont really need a player like him, we have Sneijder.

Anyways, for me its one of the players i listed.

I'm sorry but what does Lass have that Yaya doesn't? Yaya is a far more dynamic player, Lass just seems like another Makelele type. Offensively there is no comparision Yaya offers a lot more and defensively he ain't bad either...

Also Mascherano came out today and said his family isn't happy with the English life style and that he was very upset to miss out on a move to Barca last season... I think he may leave Anfield this time around.

It wasn't too long ago that Mascherano was considered one of the best CM's in the world. I remember Cuchu being rather ghastly last season but now he's having his best season ever. And I haven't seen many Liverpool games this season but it seems like the whole team is struggling. That can affect individual performances. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him in black and blue if the price was right.

SE SALTELLI....
i dont know why so many ppl are against the idea of gerrard. the main fact is that all season long wes has been playing out of position, and that has been evident in many games. the coming of gerard would allow the ability to interchange gerrard and wes, thus bringing a more balanced team.

he has a few years left in him and all we need to do is look to capitano to prove age is not of importance if heart, desire, will and skill level is still there.

cuchu covering the defense, gerard and wes further on and then the trident up front could work imho.

I havent been a fan of him since his River Plate days, also i am not comparing him with Cambiasso and also they are not the same players AT ALL...again, OVERRATED.

Wouldn't be surprised if Capello and Gerrard come together after playing together the world cup.

Having watched Gerrard since he made his debut, i feel comfortable saying that he has been on the slide for the last 2 seasons so bringing him in now would be a bad idea. I disagree that Sneijder has been played out of position this season, he has been 1 of the most influential playmakers in world football this season!!! for me personally, the only player i would put ahead of him is Xavi. Signing Gerrard would mean we'd have to fit him into the side to justify his wages but he wouldn't necessarily deserve his shirt. If we're going to sign an over the hill attacking midfielder, lets spend the same £30m on Kaka!!! atleast he has succeeded in Serie A and it would be a real kick in the nuts for Milan!!!

With regard to Lass, he was dubbed the new Makelele but he is far from that. Lass is a far more mobile and aggressive player, he is probably closer to Gattuso at his best!!! I think Yaya is better attacking player purely because of his physical characteristics, a bit like Vieira at his best. I'd be happy with either of them.

playing good does not mean he was playing in position, yes wes has been great at certain times this year but he has shown his vulnerability as well.
hasnt eto'o been playing well for us even though he has been playing out of position too?

and you say you have been watching gerrard since his debut, well so have i and im not alone in thinking that his 2nd last season(the one where you think he starts his slide) was his best ever for the club. 16 leaugue goals and 7 goals in europe and he took his side to 2nd(they really should have won.)

which gerrard have u been watching buddy, cause it certainly wasnt stevie????
