Well, the latest reports are that Monaco would like to get Perotti from Roma as a Keita replacement. If so, Candreva stays and he could be the new rediscovered AMC at 4-2-3-1 formation which will certainly be used in the starting months of the campaign. If no midfielder is bought I am fairly certain that Joao Modric will get some motivational treatment from Spallo and be in our squad- only Betis is on him and we only want mandatory redemption and the don't.

So it's Asamoah-Dalbert as full-backs and Candreva/Lautaro as AMC or seconda punta.

Thiago Maia was pretty highly rated defensive midfielder when he was still in Brazil. i like the idea, it's basically like if we would have blocked Malcom two years ago when he was really on nobody radar.

There's not a Mr. X for Midfield after Modric, Asamoah will be advanced in the midfield along with Gagliardini, Vecino, Brozovic, B.Valero and Emmers.
With Keita coming we'll try to get Darmian on loan or another LB available with that formula and that's about it.

ps. Barcelona dont accept loans for Rafinha so no chances.

They only way to have a small chance to get Alcántara here is if he's brother is here. From how it seems bayern were will to give us Vidal on the loan formula deal, so they might help us to do the same with Thiago.

Thiago ain't happening tho. I hope we at least we get rafi if Modric doesn't come.

I honestly think we could play a bunch of 442 this season with Lautaro/Politano/Keita behind Icardi. Brozovic and Ninja would make a great double pivot and it lessens the need for more midfielders. We should have enough wingers to pull that off assuming the Keita deal is real. Allows us to attack RW/MF stronger next season once we have more funds available and after a full season in the CL.

There should be a definite Plan C - if not Modric. We were after two world class midfielders - Vidal / Modric. I very much doubt that we don't have a back up plan. May be he won't be of Vidal/Modric level but I am pretty sure that we will get a midfield general type of player by the end of mercato.

If we sign another midfielder, our priority should be someone who is a clear upgrade over Gagliardini and Vecino, or at least a player with different characteristics that can help change the game when required. I don't think Barella is what we need right now. Rafinha, on the other hand, would be very useful to have, even not as a regular starter.
In case we can't find that player, I'd prefer to save that money for winter transfer when some obvious needs arise.
