It's been the third summer in a row that I feel utterly defeated by how weak we are getting.

Sure, we have quality in the team, especially in the midfield, but seeing how we are selling our best assets and we can't get players close to that... I trust the management, maybe I'm one of the rare ones, but it does feel like we have one plan and if we fuck it up, we scramble for whatever is left.
Yep, id say we did pretty shitty job before. But now after being CL finalist, i bet 99% of the teams would atleast hold of their team and try to strengthen it where needed. Looks like we are the 1%.

I will just leave this here.

Frattesi doesn’t cost 6m and Carlos Augusto ain’t a real loan deal, if you look at the real cost the picture look very different.

Carlos Augusto is a €13m deal and Frattesi is €26-27m plus Mulattieri whose value is set at €6-7m.

It’s just because Inter as usual push the expenses out in the future!

But it’s a pure technicality

Also Bosman aren’t free, instead of a fee to a club, you pay a signon fee to the player and representatives.

Also what is often ignored in those is that when you sign a player, there cost to the agents this can be several million in one market… those you can never use the same amount as you sell for if books need to be in balance.

Augusto is 4.5m loan deal. After this season, he will be cheaper as the 4-year contract kicks in and the fee for that is only 7.5m (+bonuses 4m).

It’s fundamentally a technicality the total price is still the same 12-13m euros plus bonuses, as that’s what Inter pay.

These sort of things is just sugarcoating it for the FFP regulations.

Yes. And FFP matters for Inter. Gosens amortization cost per year was 6m, while Augusto will be 2-3m after the loan period ends. That's big difference.

Indeed we look solid on every line except the forwards. Our best forward by FAR is Lautaro and even him isn't exactly reliable. I'm still hoping in vein that we'll somehow sign a prolific forward, but I guess focusing solely on Lukaku has backfired us.

With Correa, the forward group looks simply weak or at least quite uncertain. Changing Correa to almost any other option would make it better.
considering that correa looked more promising in the summer as thuram did, the situation is mor epathetic.

Lautaro-Arnautovic starting pairing, here we come.

I'm not reading any rumours anymore about Inter signing a new forward.
Are they seriously going into this season with the current forwards? Seriously??

Looking at the team, I consider the forward line the least strong of them all. Reinforcements are desperately needed!

The problem is that there not enough funds to afford a forward that actually will be a noticeable upgrade. You need at least 40m to spend and preferably more, such kind of investment is not going to happen without a new owner willing to invest in the club. Until then we are stuck with Bosman to 30m players…

Yes the forward line is largely forgettable, but what can you do about it if doesn’t really have enough resources to actually strengthen it.

There's nothing wrong with Thuram. He's playing in a new team and it takes time to develop chemistry with the other forwards. I don't know how often he's played in a 3-5-2 either but he'll need time to adjust.

I'm not saying he'll be a success but feels that people are way too quick to jump the gun that he's not good enough. I can understand uncertainty though given he's not a sure thing - but with our budget, we were never going to get a striker who's a sure thing.

The people freaking out about Thuram are the same ones who complain we don't play youth and then immediately lose their minds when they youth makes an in-game mistake.

I didnt watch preseason but read that he was very bad. I know he was a beast playing for France. I think this guy has it to succeed here.

I've seen a limited amount of Thuram but from what I have seen, I simply don't know what I'm supposed to be impressed by.

It's the exact same thing for Balogun. I've never seen more unimpressive goal compilations than either of these guys.

And yet we decided to give Thuram guy a €6m net salary. Yes, I know - he's a free agent - and with the growth decree his annual cost is quite low, only €9m or so. But he's literally the joint highest earner in our team alongside Calhanoglu ( ) and Lautaro.

The way I see it, we've put ourselves in this really precarious and uncomfortable position where Thuram is getting paid like a star, but isn't anywhere near good enough to repay that value on the pitch.

We've elevated his profile and the expectations on him with that enormous wage but personally, I don't see the skills in his game to match that expectation. That disparity is the definition of a flop right?

If he doesn't flop and instead, really blossoms as a player, I'll happily eat humble pie. If he does flop though, how are we going to shift this guy? Who the hell is going to take on his gargantuan salary? Realistically, we'd have to sell him at a lower fee (which would be "acceptable" as he came on a free) or pay part of his wages at his next team.

We're all in on this gamble. Like it or not, Thuram has to be the starter and we have to hope he does level up big time.
