i also could care less if the GK can play with his feet. I want him to be able to make saves. I sometimes can't stand the passing back to the GK, especially when we are in their box and then 5 seconds later, our GK has the ball. It has been going on since Conte. Thats why Handa was sometimes the player with over 50 passes in a game. Also, a young GK should be able to learn how to pass the ball with his feet. If a 35 year old Handa was able to do it, i am sure Trubin will figure it out with time. He won't be as good as Onana, but who really is?
Football has changed, if you dont have goalkeeper who is basically an extra cb who knows to play long ball and gives you one more player on the field you will suffer against high pressure. Even against mid and bottom table teams. Just see how we suffered vs Fiorentina in Coppa final when Handa was on goal. We were lucky to win it. Having a keeper that is only good stoper means shit today. We need someone who is close to Onana level and who is great playing as extra cb plus who is a great ball stoper.

I have zero idea where this bullshit about Handa being bad with his feet is coming from all of a sudden. Yes, Onana is better, but Handa has been one of the best gk's with his feet in serie a, since the arrival of Conte... also, Napoli won the league and i dont remember Meret being that good of a playmaker.

Serie A has literally 6 good teams and each has 1 GK. So "one of the best" could mean bottom last lol.

I strongly disagree with you. Handa was shit with his feet at the beginning, with Conte he did manage the short simple ones less clumsy but I dont call such basic things as "good with feet" in professional football. Has he managed a single long pass, let alone key passes like Onana? No. Simply not good enough ability so he never does.

Better now than at the end of August. I'm sad because we finally found a great replacement for Handanović, but fuck it, if his sale brings us another younger gk (Trubin) we can feature for the next 10-15 years, we did great

It's still different, maybe he'll be just good and won't have clubs lined up for him like Handanović, making him stay her for a long time

nah @IM21 actually was on something, I remember how we got the Real Madrid fans in awe on how accurate Handa's long passes were.
Though, it is true Handa's accurate passes were not playmaking by any means in nature, nor would he attempt to faint an opponent pressing him like Onana would; however, if we are comparing fundamental goalkeeping skills such as handling, decisions, shot stops etc. Handa was a way superior goalkeeper at his prime.

Not saying Onana is bad, but people really forgot how good Handa was, he was just underrated most of the time, cause he played for a banter era Inter.

With that all said, I would rank Onana as the best goalkeeper in the world for the last season given the change in modern football, that his goalkeeping skills is already in the top tire, and ball on feet is just insane level, way beyond any other GK which some of the FIF members don't rate it much, but it makes hell of a different playing 11 against 10 players pressing you, there were so many advantages we gained.

Still I am not against selling him, I am against selling for a not high enough price for the #1 GK right now.

Handa was shit with his feet at the beginning
This is very true though.

I hope we don’t pull the trigger on the sale until there is planned and actionable sequence of roster moves in place. We can’t sell Onana and then shakhtar play hardball with Trubin and Sommer stays at Bayern. Furthermore we need an actual strategy on how to use the surplus funds to flesh out the roster, not just blow it all on Lukaku and Onana replacements and sign everyone else on a free or on loan.

I'm confident we're going to do everything you suggested we don't do.

Think it's too late to reconsider, Onana has a deal with ManU for big money. Just get the money and sign the goalkeeper replacements and rethink the Lukaku situation.

we cant reconsider, cause no Onana sale means we won't have a complete roster. Still need 2 GK's, CB, MF, RWB (even tho I don't think this is really needed) and a CF. The only stupid thing is that they will spend most of that Onana money on Lukaku.

Let's be honest. We're selling Onana so we can afford Lukaku. We could fill the other roster spots even without Onana's sale.

For 2 GKs, we could easily extend Handa and bring Di Gennaro. For defence we're alreadly looking only for someone on loan. Even with Onana sale we don't intend to spend money there. In midfield we could sign Pereyra on a free. On rwb we could easily keep Lazaro, sign a low cost rwb or even sign Umtiti on a free and move Darmian back to rwb. The problem is in attack. We're determined to sign Lukaku. Almost at all costs. No Onana sale, no Lukaku.
