Despite the troubles we put ourselves in, with two wins we are still 100% certain to advance to the next stage.

The match against Slavia will tell if we even deserve to fight for this; the one against Barcelona if we deserve to go through.

Not all is lost.

If we somehow end up third in the table and qualify for Europa League, I would suggest our management to broker a deal with UEFA and not to play in it, stating that we can not invest more due to FFP issues for quality squad depth. This current squad is not enough for league, leave alone competing in UEFA games as well. Why play in Europa League games, when the revenue from there is nothing, as compared to Champs League.

:troll::brozo:

Because you play to win, not to rake in profits.

This is why Italian teams are shit in Europe nowadays. They don't care about winning but are fixated on getting more money to be able to compete with the rich boys.

And this is why Diego Simeone is always going to be the best manager of his generation.

Look again.

The options were Godin, Brozovic and Vecino.
Vecino was tightly marked and should have only acted as a decoy (I think it was Lukaku in front of him but he probably wouldn't have been close enough).
Godin needed to come closer as he had a man on him.

And Brozovic was free with a man incoming yet he was late and he had to clear the ball immediately after he received the ball. If you see his reaction after the goal it seems clear to himself too that it was his fault, otherwise he'd be yelling at Candreva for his alleged poor decision.

The only other option, as last resort, would have been Handanovic. And it'd be a terrible choice.

And if you see the footage again you will see that Brozovic whilst moving towards the ball stopped, allowing the opponent to nick the ball off of him for Brandt. Brozovic shouldn't have done that and should have been more aggressive to the ball and kick it out of our area as common practice in these situations dictates.

Most players in the world would have gone for Godin or even Vecino who were safer options than Brozovic. Throwing the ball towards your own goal when you're under pressure from the opponent was a rookie mistake.

From Opta Paolo twitter account:

For their first time ever, Inter have lost a Champions League match after leading by 2+ goals margin (28 games previous of today).

Our whole game plan is to outrun opponents (regardless of the fuckin quality of the opposition!) and people are surprised players are tired and injured. Defensive functionality got a lot worse because of a back 3 and playing that formation requires more quality depth yet we spent however much we did on Lukaku to hold the ball while the other cunts run to the fuckin moon. Oh boy did we get dominated that 2nd half by a "not-so-good" Dortmund side and what did we do? Yup you guessed it, more running.

Only good thing he's done is that our counters have improved tenfold. And yet we're in an almost identical situation to that of last year with Spalletti, minus all the spending and salary of course. Perhaps I'm exaggerating and feeling too negative but seriously, FUCK Conte.

Man that's a stupid rant. You need to chill out. One massive thing for Conte is we have more points from losing positions already. Also, we actually put dortmund and barca in serious trouble, last season we tried to defend for the full game. If conte has a strong squad to rotate and keep fresh meaning we can play his style for 90 minutes then we can trouble any team. We knew this wasn't the case this year with that squad

We are through if we beat Slavia and Barcelona. Easier said than done. We already played both teams and didn't win.

Knowing Inter we will fail to beat Slavia and manage to beat Barcelona.

Barca is in such a fuckin' shit form. It's never been as possible to beat them as it is now, definitely at home. And beating Slavia should still be a given for this team. So it's all still just so very possible. But if anyone is still gonna let shit hit the fan it's us. It's just not gonna happen.

For me it's Brozo's mistake as well. He should have been aware for the approaching opponent and to handle the ball better. This is not a sole case thou. Brozovic sucks under pressure and makes silly mistakes. As I've said before we need better player for his spot against top tier teams.

True - but the way we are folding in the second half does not bode well for beating even slavia, let alone barca.

(Incredibly, if we beat slavia we may not even need to beat barca, but there our fate would depend on what dortmund does in its other games.)

The problem on the throw-in wasn't choosing Brozovic, it was that Candreva didn't put anything on that pass. It was an effortless throw and that's what gave Brandt the ability to close down and dispossess Brozovic. Whether it was the right option or not to begin with, if Candreva puts anything behind it, it gets to Marcelo and, odds are, none of the rest of what happens on that play ever happens.

Candreva put plenty behind it, do you think he's going to throw it max power to brozovic? There were a few mistakes. Candreva shouldn't have passed to him. Brozovic shouldn't have called for it where he did. Brozovic shouldn't have stopped he run. Brozovic should have put his boot through the ball rather than trying to take a touch.

Beating Slavia is a given? They outplayed us at our own ground.

It's a shame but choking hard like yesterday means we're out. We need a miracle and well.. it most likely won't happen.

I missed the game but from the sounds of it we simply don't have the squad depth required.

Although it’s easy to say in hindsight, Conte should have made a tactical change at half time to neutralize the Hakimi threat.
I’m sure conte has his reasons but the mismatch with Brighi was clear, who was playing on a yellow.

Being up to 2-0, I was surprised Conte did not introduce Lazaro for a striker or straight swap Lazaro for Brighi.

For Those who are criticizing Mourinho, he would not have hesitated to make the changes to neautralise Hakimi threat even if it meant taking off Martinez and playing with 7 defenders. Hence why he has success in the competition.

Me too, but I didnt expect much. No matter the tactics our lack of bench was always going to give problems. You can not expect to compete on this level with no bench and a worn starting 11

How did Gotze do anyway? We were linked to him earlier in the season

. / From what iv seen from the highlights Martinez was key in both goals again
