They occupy the same space in midfield. Barella can play several roles but his "base" is right side of a 3 man midfield. That's the same area of the pitch where fratessi excels. I don't see either starting many games concurrently.1. No, it's not the same play style but yes he is probably here as the main bench option for Barella. Barella is the glue and can play multiple roles during THE SAME GAME, while Frattesi is somebody who is really good at rushing into the box and has this certain grinta about him.
I cant help but think we should have focused our efforts on koopmeiners, if he was within budget. To me that would be a better fit a la a vice Mhiki
