1. No, it's not the same play style but yes he is probably here as the main bench option for Barella. Barella is the glue and can play multiple roles during THE SAME GAME, while Frattesi is somebody who is really good at rushing into the box and has this certain grinta about him.
They occupy the same space in midfield. Barella can play several roles but his "base" is right side of a 3 man midfield. That's the same area of the pitch where fratessi excels. I don't see either starting many games concurrently.

I cant help but think we should have focused our efforts on koopmeiners, if he was within budget. To me that would be a better fit a la a vice Mhiki

I believe Atalanta wanted around 50 million for Koopmeiners, and probably would not have accepted Mullatieri the way Sassuolo did. Napoli was also in for Koopmeiners but too high of a price.

Barella can also play on the left and be Mkhi's replacement.

For now, Frattesi isn't yet totally in tune with what Inzaghi wants from him for him to start. So until he gets to understand where to stand, where to run, where to pass in the right moment, he won't really be starting consecutive matches for us.

Sure, Koopmeiners could be big for us, but buying from Atalanta will soon become "every player is 50+mil" affair

Agree, against Empoli we should rotate heavily. Even against Empoli we should give rest to some players that can be comfortably rested, without losing much quality: Darmian - Pavard and Mkhi - Frattesi are no brainers.

We have a weaker champions league group. Rather rotate and play around there. We need to get as much of a cushion as possible in the league.

This price is not real for player like Koopmeiners. But, for Scalvini is worth the risk. He was very good against Fiorentina as well. Very impressive lad.

Yea, but he will be roasted here, if he plays for Inter now, he basically let the second goal free header; and lack of some intensity to close down; he does remind me a bit of the classic skillful Italian defenders like Nesta, quite elegant the way he plays. but so did Rano when he was at Bari.

Don't get me wrong I like him too, it is just Inter is quite a hard environment, plus he won't be cheap.

Until we win 3 CL games, I will not have the gall to say we have a weaker CL group.

Sociedad and Benfica aren’t pushovers. Even Salzburg might cause problems. Yeah on paper we should advance but nothing is given.

Serie A will be a grind all the way to the end and thankfully we have good depth but its critical we advance as far as possible in the CL.

Apparently he is also injured from before. That is why he didn't start.

He was invisible for good 20min, till we score. Like whole attacking part of the team.
In terms of focus and intent he changed the game, facing forward and playing direct. I'd like to see more this Barella / Fratessi tandem

Yea I knew something like this would have worked, and it showed last night.
Though the other players ran like 70 mins already so I still could be wrong.

It looks like he'll be on the bench for Sassuolo which I guess also means he'll start against Salernitana. If that's the case, I feel like the two games he was selected to start are not necessarily the games where we would make the most use of his strengths. I would like to see him start against a team where there is more space for him to use his athleticism. The two games he would be starting would be against mostly defensive teams (Empoli, Salernitana).
