Let's wait to the end of merkato to get the full picture. Apart of Godin, the rumors about Skri and Eriksen are pure speculations so far.
And I don't mind about Godin's departure actually. He wasn't so important throughout last season and if the coach thinks that he could be replaced, let's trust him.

According to FCInternews (apparently they have reporters too these days), Godin would make 2.5m€ net + bonuses x 3 years at Cagliari. Inter will pay approx 1.5m€ payment to Godin. I don't really get this transfer. Why is Godin lowering his net salary so much? If he's guaranteed over 5m€ annually for 2 years, that is already more than what he will make in 3 years with Cagliari.

Let's wait for other papers' details about the deal.

Depends on what media says about whether Conte wants or doesn't want the player. Based on that, form an opinion which must go into the "fuck Conte" direction, having sense is not required.

If media says that Conte doesn't want Gaglia, for example, everyone will suddenly say that Gaglia is a world class, loyal, long-serving Inter player and Conte is mindlessly forcing him out of project.

The brutal truth, probably, is that Conte does prefer another player other than Gaglia, but Gaglia cannot be sold. FFS, we are forcing Godin out on a free.

Meanwhile, fact is we are broke, and management tries to pull something out of their arse. Not that they were hinting on a Messi signing and agreed to buy Tonali, but none of that happened.

If you’re a Conte fan, fine. If you’re a fan of the current situation or what seems to be the ongoing and future transfer strategy, fine.

But stop trying to fool yourself into believing that there’s any consistency or common thread in terms of who we buy or sell. There’s very little coherence. It seems to be saving on the wages on one (Godin) expensive player who isn’t preferred in the current system, so you can buy two players (Kolarov and Darmian) whom the coach prefers and who might fit the system, who in total are just as expensive.

Pure speculation as lately in this forum people are way too sensitive with opinions and you will be labeled conte hater if you claim he doesn't want x player.

It might be the exact same case as sanchez as Godin was told that hes not in Contes plan and would like to play instead of eating the bench. Although the difference between inter cagliari and man utd inter is greater. Lets see if the transfer goes through and Godin clarifies about what happend. Even then people would still question the validity of his statement and not to trust the media..

Yeah, I understand this move from Inter's perspective if Conte simply do not want to use Godin. And the club does not want to have that expensive player as a bench option (who still doesn't fit to Conte's system).

I'm just very curious if Godin indeed is calling it a day at top football suddenly. Pretty sure some club would have taken him for the money Cagliari reportedly offers? (I'd say even more). Maybe he doesn't want to move anymore, change country etc. Rather enjoy life in Sardinia, play football but not at the highest, highest level with ultimate requirements.

Cagliari: 'Doing everything for Godin'

As Sportitalia claim Diego Godin has agreed an exit from Inter, director Pierluigi Carta confirms ‘we’re doing everything to bring him to Cagliari.’

The 34-year-old defender only joined a year ago from Atletico Madrid as a free agent, but despite getting more playing time in the final few weeks of the season, he is seemingly not in Antonio Conte’s plans.

According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, Godin and Inter have now agreed on a compensation package to terminate his contract early.

Now it is up to Cagliari to negotiate personal terms with the Uruguay international.

“We’re getting into the thick of things for the Godin talks and we’re doing everything to bring him to Cagliari,” director of sport Carta said in a press conference.

“If we manage it, we’ll be extremely happy, because we’re trying to build a strong squad with experience as well as youth. Godin is an important player, so naturally it’s a complex negotiation.”
