Great performance, won so many balls and distributed well also. He does a much better job in this position than Medel.

You can tell he's well acquainted with the dark arts, the way he stepped in Bacca without the ball, he wasn't even looking at him and the referee didn't notice.

I was thinking the same thing, we lacked "dirty" player like him, specially in these kind of games. We were constantly pushed, beaten in those ways when the ref doesnt notice always. Young team like this one needs Melo (also one thing I never thought I would say..)

I think Melo+Kondogbia has the right characteristics and physical presence to develop into a beast-level partnership, which can allow us to play 3-4 attacking players.

Derbies are often anomalies. I thought melo played superbly and looked ironically to be a calming influence in the middle for most of the game. But you dont 'prove people wrong' with one match and im not going to declare his transfer a success right now, just as im not going to write off peresic for an unimpressive debut.

If we had landed Yaya Toure as well, I would have said we are title challengers... that would make a CL level team. But back to reality now... we have some time to worry about the CL, lets focus on a Top 3 finish with this team and maybe 1-2 quality additions in the winter.

Honestly,when I think of creative Mr.X,I think about Pjanic,Rakitic,Isco,Wilshere,Cazorla or anyone of their quality,I dont want average players on that position,and I think those I mentioned are the best players we can get.
We could get Yaya too,and it would be amazing,but I kinda think he is too old for us,we need this year,and 2 more years to be a serious Champions League team(the one that goes to quarter finals and so on).
