I think he'll eventually shut up most of the haters. I think the majority of the people that didn't want him are just having flashbacks to certain red card incidents and don't actually realise he probably has a better passing range than any of our other midfielders. Is physically immense, and actually reads the game quite well. Vastly a superior player to Medel.

I still think Mancini needs to take him off when he gets a yellow though

Very solid debut. Might have been a bit harsher on Balotelli though.

Very impressed with this dude tonight, looking forward to watching him from now on and I too would choose him over GM.

Hated his transfer but he was great in the derby. No doubts.

I can see why Mancini wanted Kondogbia-Melo. They slowly grew into the game, and I can see them developing into a beast-level midfield partnership. K-dog can really hold the ball and run with it, and Melo can also distribute it apart from proving cover for the defense.

This could get interesting.

haha...Melo telling Balo where his place is at.
I hated on Melo coming but now I'm having second thoughts...he was a warrior today...very pleased with his never give up attitude..I hope he keeps it up...he seems more mature now than at Rube which is normal, and also he has some nice clean crosses to the side...much much better at DM than Medel I feel.
Melo DM and Medel CB will work better...until Miranda gets back anyway

This was the best game for him to make his debut in. He loves rivalries like this, against Fenerbahce he would often wind up the opposition, yet importantly most times he would come out on top. He is a tough tackler and will always give his all. He can be very important this season, I felt bad for him when so many were against his signing but he will prove most wrong. Some games he will need taking off after a yellow but I also think he is intelligent enough now not to risk getting sent off.

I expected this kind of performance. Above the aggresiveness he offers, he is actually a intelligent player with good vision and good passing ability, he is indeed twice the player Medel technically and tactically. Still, the red card will come sooner or later so be prepared.

Great performance, won so many balls and distributed well also. He does a much better job in this position than Medel.

You can tell he's well acquainted with the dark arts, the way he stepped in Bacca without the ball, he wasn't even looking at him and the referee didn't notice.

I don't know why you guys are so petrified of him on a yellow, or think the red card is inevitable. He went a full season without getting a red card. Does that mean he will go this season without getting one? No, but it does mean we don't need to panic and haul him off every time he gets a yellow.

No disrespect but I can totally imagine Melo as a Favela Drug Lord when retiring from football... or maybe the bodyguard of a Favela Drug Lord??

Like a beast expelling anyone who intrude his territory.
Compared to Medel, Melo is more comfortable when holding and passing the ball. But he is not always stand ready for assistance when our defenders on the ball, which makes our building up a little stagnent.

Yeah, but he was getting very hyped up and in my opinion he did ride the line very closely. The derby definitely exacerbated his already fiery attitude. I would trust his ability to stay calm on a yellow against Chievo moreso than against Milan

He was a beast but he got out paced in two instances in the first half. Overall wonderful leadership in the middle.
