Probably Cambiasso will be the second central defender. Vieira is novadays more offensive than before. And he is more offensive than Cambiasso. Vieira should be and probably is rested on Sunday to be fit for this match. Unbelievable that the absences hit us at this time of the season. Okay, CL-bans plays a big part in that but still.

Cambiasso is a bit small. Not sure he would do for a cb. Viera would be a better choice imho depending on what type of strikers of fenerbahce has.

A draw would be ok, even though it would put us in an unfavourable position. Imagine if we lose the next match to PSV, which is the toughest match of the group. We would be in the same position as last year.

I want a win here. Frankly we're good enough to win even with many players injured.

Our defence is solid even without Maicon, Marco and Chivu, even though not nearly as offensive and good. Our midfield will be superiour, and as long as Figo, Stankovic and Ibra have a decent match we should win by a two goal margin. Maybe they get one goal and we win 2-1.

Our defense is solid?? Maxwell we all know is great going forward,Rivas totally unproven, then either a central midfielder as a centreback or a primavera player. Of those currently fit only JZ is solid and Samuel if he makes it back.

We are without chivu, matrix, maicon, cordoba and burdisso for this game thats an entire defensive unit.

I fancy our chances much more in front of our own growd at San Siro in the next game even if PSV on paper are a better team. Home ground counts a lot in these cl games.

I didn't know we were without Cordoba too. :frustrat: I was thinking JZ--Cordoba--Samuel--Maxwell. You're right the Cordoba injury could very well cause problems. But IMO Rivas should be good enough to handle Fenerbache. He doesn't strike me as the nervous type, and skillwise he handled Barcelona pretty good.

EDIT

I disagree I think we have a better shot of beating Fener away then PSV at home. Home advantage is important but the class difference between the two teams makes up for that. But both matches are tough. Anyways, we should be able to win both. IMO there's only three or four players we absolutely can not do without. Well we can, but the team will look completely different, in a negative way.

Ibra, Stankovic, Maicon and possibly Julio Cesar. If you remove Ibra you lose a topclass target player, and someone who will create space and chances for others. Stankovic and the midfield will lose a whole lot of technical class, longshots, throughballs, and fighting spirit. Maicon is one of our best dribblers, and to not have him will weaken our offensive power immensely.

And without Julio Cesar we look shaky as shit. All my respect to Toldo but I don't feel as safe when he's between the posts. I'm not saying JZ, Materazzi, Crespo, Cambiasso, Vieira etc aren't important players. I'm just saying those four have characteristics that can't be replaced by any other player.

We're simply better then them in almost all positions, and will have most of our key players, in better physichal shape then two weeks ago. And with the form Ibra has atm I think it will take more then Fenerbache to stop us.

Well this is the kind of game that we will need to score 3 or 4 goals to win. I hope we are prepared offensively for it and not just worry about the defensive part...
The turkish stadium and fans are fantastic and will give our players a hard time. The more pressure there is on our defense the worse the scenario is going to end. Our offensive players need to keep the ball on the other end for as long as possible and make and take every chance.

I think this could be like the game against Benfica..

Oh great, injured before the international break, suddenly become 100% fit during the international break, injured again right after the international break.

What a coincidence? :wallbang:  Is it like totally confirmed that he will be out this game?

It would be a totally experimental line-up, as Rivas is yet to play a single official minute of football for the club, while Cambiasso is new to this role.

The two were tested out in a friendly against the Inter youth team on Thursday, but whether they can hold on in Europe is another matter.
...

And now it's totally sure as Vieira is injured.

Such a Real Crisis!!!

But i do think Samuel will catch the match if not.....mmm Cambiasso ...not viera but the problem is Rivas isn't experienced yet..Cambiasso never played in defense before...both of them didn't play with each other !! Fenerbache has Kezman....

But still Diego simeone played that role before....and now its time for his compatriot el cuchu as i do believe they are similar in lots of things..

Man...this is going to be a though game...I'll honestly be surprise if we come back with a point. Our midfield and Attack must be on their game or we'll get spanked...
I wouldn't risk Rivas on defense not on a CL game.

 This isn't any better, I'd rather play some one who is familiar with the position - center back, than to play two who have hardly played in that position in their entire life.

We must do something like this

Cesar
Zanetti - Samuel - Rivas - Maxwell
Figo - Cambiasso - Dacourt - Stankovic
Ibrahimovic - Crespo

Rivas will do fine , and samuel will be fit before Thursday im sure we can keep Alex Quite
