The problem is partly the public nature if his failing too. Being told he has no footballing IQ, needs to play for the team, and whatever else both us and benfica said about him will really damage whether anyone wants him in a serious club or league

Their (real) season starts in March, so they actually are able to sit out January and just get him for 15-18m which they're willing to pay instead of having us play games with them. Their transfer window runs until mid April iirc.

Sucked 4 years ago, sucked 3 years ago, 2, 1 and sucks today as well. It took a near goal-per-game miracle season to get his value back up to 18 mil.

The stalling has been apparently more about Gabigol asking too much and Flamengo not bending. Obviously all the links to EPL are very random and about loan deals, nothing more concrete.

The real problem can be his salary...
Correct. Flamengo remain the most credible suitor for his career. The problem currently is that they cannot pay his wage demand of €4M. :yao:

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, West Ham have come forward for Gabriel Barbosa but their offer is only loan with option to buy. That simply will not do for Inter.

Meanwhile, Brazilian sources report that the striker will soon be in Milan to define his future. I only hope Marotta will talk sense into him.

@mods: he is back from LOAN, move thread :troll: Right now, he is an Inter striker.

Can this dickhead just get fucking sold already?

I've been hearing "Inter have deal with Flamengo for ~€18m + some future sale percentage" for what seems like months. Some sources say we're waiting for a better offer from the PL, others say the player and Flamengo are failing to reach an agreement on a new contract.

If it's on us, then I hope we just piss him off for whatever amount avoids a loss. If it is Flamengo, then fuck you, pay the kid. He comes in plays a huge part in winning them an unprecedented league and Libertadores double. He's quite possibly already one of their greatest players ever.

Not even Gabriel is as deluded to think that he's one of the greatest ever at a club that had Leonidas(think of Pele and Garrincha combined and that's his legacy until the early 1960s), Zico, Romario, Bebeto, Zizinho, our very own Adriano, Djalminha, Joao Nunes, Joel Martins, Zagallo and several others. I mean Flamengo fans love him and all for that Libertadores but even they understand how different the dynamics are today compared to their legends of the past that brought them championships, joy and World Cups :D

Mundo Deportivo suggest Inter striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa and Milan’s Rafael Leao are options to replace injured Barcelona hitman Luis Suarez.

The Uruguay international had surgery this week on a knee ligament injury, ruling him out for at least four months.

It’s a huge setback for the Blaugrana, who are already stuttering this season.

Ousmane Dembele is also a long way off his full recovery, so Barcelona are going back on the transfer market.

According to newspaper Mundo Deportivo, options include Milan’s Portuguese Under-21 international Rafael Leao and Inter-owned Gabigol.

When it comes to Gabigol, the Brazilian is eager to remain at Flamengo, but the two clubs have been unable to agree a transfer fee.

His situation is particularly intriguing, as Inter want to sell him to raise funds for midfield reinforcements and could potentially include him as part of an exchange deal with Barcelona’s Arturo Vidal. :troll:

The 23-year-old scored 34 goals in 43 games for Flamengo, along with 11 assists, taking them to the league title and Copa Libertadores.

Gabigol is also wanted by Premier League sides Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Joins the team and scores some insane 40 goals in 50 games as he plays a key role in leading Flamengo to the Brasileiro Serie A and Libertadores, titles they hadn’t won in 10 and 40 years. I’d say he’s practically icon-status already.

Gabigol to Barca to replace Suarez though :yao:
