Recoba? Might as well throw Rivaldo there.. ahh kids nowadays even forgot Rui Costa, Veron, Ballack, Existed.

The biggest problem is that kids are influenced (and maybe a cycle occurs and they begin influencing) by media and the status quo. This is an era where: Barcelona, Real Madrid win everything and dominate. Bayern, Juventus and PSG win everything domestically. And then you have the "awards" that are Barcelona-Real and EPL heavy. So you have Messi and Cristiano winning everything between them for like 10 years now and this shit has started back in the early 2000s when they started hyping David Beckham as one of the greatest. I liked the guy, he was great, he had a crazy cross that few in the game had, but he was nowhere near the level of the elite players, yet because he married the Spice Girl and played for Man Utd everyone knew him.
The status quo also suggests that Serie A struggles, that Inter and Milan are shit and so on. Ask kids about Inter and you will think they see a team of Stoke's level.

In the past decade, Zlatan (2008), Sneijder (2010), Iniesta (2012), maybe Ribery? (2013) and Sergio Ramos or Neuer (2014) were probably robbed of the Ballon d'Or for the sake of giving it to Messi or Cristiano. Could argue 2001 and 2006 for Totti as well but I'm not going into that again. Sure, both these guys have scored a shitload of goals but others shouldn't be penalized because of the superteams formed by Platini's shortsightedness to gain some votes from the small leagues by giving them a chance at the CL and completely destroying the middle teams that made challenges for various European cups in the 70s, the 80s, the 90s and half the 2000s for example (I'm talking about the Steaua, PSV, Anderlecht, Malmo, Club Brugge, Mechelen, Goteborg, Zenit, Shakthar, Galatasaray, Red Star, Benfica, Celtic and so on). They change the rules and selection process every year to accommodate Messi and Cristiano.

The kids still see the same teams over and over again. They will think that Carvajal is a legend but will have no clue of who Jorginho was or say that Lampard is an all time great whilst when they hear Zico they'll think it's some kind of exotic soda.

@mods this thread needs cleaning. I don't want to read an off topic discussion with quotes piled up on each other for 3 days straight.

If you start deleting posts, you kinda defeat thr idea of a freeflowing forum that always has at least one debate, even if it's offtopic. Start killing debates, and you kill the forum.

Anyways, Pazza Inter deserves a Pazza Forum.

If you don't wanna participate in the debate, read the first paragraph, scroll down.

many of those posts were off-topic. i feel a thread for all generic football stuff would be the best option.

Vegeta is better than Goku

So you say Vegeta who never beat any of single main villain is better than Goku who surpass the God power? Ofc he is prince of saiyan but he is nothing and not legend if he only being super on his own planet but being loser when fight againts other. No one will remember pathetic loser like vegeta, people will only remember Goku.

i know i'll regret getting into this fight, but i can't help it.

vegeta is not a loser. and he's the greatest character in Dragon Ball imho. a fierce prince who at the end sacrifices himself cause he discovers the wonder and power of love. it was harder for him than for anyone else.

even as a fighter, the very first time he actually beat goku. and that's one reason why goku begs krilin to spare him. then goku became stronger, no question about it. but a loser? nah.

Ronaldo in 2008 scored 42 goals for ManUtd, top scorer in the league, top scorer in the CL. The most important player for ManUtd helping them to win league and CL double but Zlatan was robbed of Ballon D'or

Player who was outscored by fucking Marco Borriello and did nothing in CL vs Player who scored in every knock out including finals (except Semi Finals) and top scorer in CL and PL.

You forgot that Jesus Christ himself would be unable to score in Serie A, whereas my girlfriend could lead the Premier League in scoring.

Of course you don't understand that 2008 = January-December and not 2007-8, but go on. This is quite funny.
And you also don't realize that up until the 21st century (or early 2000s), the best player got the award not the best performer of whoever's team did the best in the Champions League. It was a catalyst but not the biggest criterion. And let's bash Maradona for never winning the Ballon d'Or while you're at it. It will coincide with the rest of your reasoning.

You're beyong salvation and a waste of energy. I was going to give you a last chance at a proper discussion but your lack of comprehension and argumentative skills makes the whole effort mundane.

Second highest goalscorer of Serie A and only won 1 Serie A title? I mean c'mon

That's because he's played for Roma. This is a collective achievement. If your teammates (club owners, management, coaches, players etc) aren't up to the challenge then you won't win regardless of your own strength. If Totti's played for R.Madrid, Barca, Milan etc then there's no doubt that he'd win much more titles.

Diego Maradona has won only two scudetti and 1 world cup but he's still considered the best player in history. Moreover, Totti has achieved more than Roberto Baggio (who unlike Totti has played for the 3 top Italians). Where does that leave Baggio according to your argument?

Well, it's arguable Baggio has achieved less than Totti. Despite having played in the top 3 clubs, Baggio spent half of his career playing for mid table clubs like Fiorentina, Bologna and Brescia. Baggio also played in the worst time for Inter. Baggio literally carried Italy to World Cup final in 1994. Totti, on the other hand, played for Roma which is arguably a title contender since calciopoli. Totti won World Cup in 2006 but he wasn't really the main mastermind in the team.

I only brought up Baggio to counter his argument that Totti has only won 1 world cup and 1 scudetto. I'm not belittling Baggio in any way. Just proving that a legendary player (like Baggio) doesn't necessary has to win as much as C.Ronaldo. Same applies to Totti. There's no criteria for that. They've all done great at their prime years regardless of how much titles they've won.
