it’s 2 game already inzaghi subs thuram out and pair lautaro with alexis and ends up with nothing.. does he not realize our attcking become flat, easy to defend against and we lose out any aerial threat when he done that?

if he really want to bring alexis in, really should change a bit the formation play to 4-3-3.

Here I agree.

But I like how people already jump into conclusions based on one game. Conte had tons of games like these with more superior players and still won a Scudetto. And people here already giving up.

Not saying we’ll win it or it will be easy, but certainly wont judge by one game only.
The thing is Conte never had a season with us where he finished less than 2nd and he never had more than 5 losses in the league season if my memory serves me correct. Someone may want to fact check me on the exact number because that’s just off the top of my head, but the point is he never dropped as many points as Inzaghi.

I agree we could still go on an win this league. However, from what we’ve seen thus far with the exception of the battering we gave them Milan has looked more consistent and against better teams. Season is long but I think it’s fair to ask questions given the track record.

Your making Contes team better then it was. It was not much better then the current.

The biggest difference is found on wings where Perisic and Hakimi roamed. Otherwise the difference in quality is limited, the depth was perhaps a tad better but we are not talking a massive difference here.

Our defence is almost equal in strength, our midfield isn’t notable weaker. On attack it’s very much equal as Martinez is notable better then he was back then and also then Lukaku and Thuram isn’t worse then Martinez in that season our bench was also pretty shit in that season there.

2nd goal conceded is bastoni mistake. he was running towards zirkzee and suddenly instead of pressing him, suddenly decide to cover the right side attacker when other running defenders could cover that as well

Both this match and the Sassuolo match we badly lacked a game changer off the bench. As much as we love Pavard (rightfully so) we ended up spending our forward money on him. Which resulted in cheap stop gap solutions in Sanchez and Arnautovic. Right now it’s looking like perhaps that wasn’t the best decision.

To be fair to our management they actually did just about everything they could to do the opposite. The plan was to sign a cheap RCB option like Nacho or Azpilicueta and spend the big money on Lukaku or Balogun. The market dynamics changed and we had to “settle” for signing an admittedly world class player but one that doesn’t necessarily move the needle in matches like todays.

If Thuram and Lautaro are tired or having an off day this team has a big problem. And as soon as we sub one out our level drops even further. That’s a squad issue, not an Inzaghi issue. Not saying he’s faultless but us not having enough money to sign a decent forward isn't on him.
That’s indeed what it is. Pavard is class and I love him already. But we are pathetic upfront. Thuram is starting really well and upon expectations imo. But he is a Serie A first timer, he can have matches like this once in a while. Lautaro can’t get a break this season because we don’t have anyone even close to him. Alexis and Arnautovic seemed like really bad choices in the summer, and recent weeks are proving they are.
no matter what will happend, i sadly have to say FOR NOW that we are not the scudetto team that all were expecting, like manchester city in the EPL or Bayern. Or even Napoli last year that were unbeatable and there was no doubt they would win the league. Already 4 ridiciolous points lost. Bologna and Sassuolo, both at home. We are one of the favorites, but not the favorite. The only hope are our new players. We can't expect them to be brilliant already after 2 months, with time they could improve and things could look difrent. Specialy players like Augusto and Frattesi who was supposed to play a lot but is still behind Miky. The hope is there. My biggest worry are anyway the forwards. Sanchez is an upgrade to Correa but still not the best solution. No idea about Arnautovic, we need to wait for him sadly. At least Thuram has potential to become important, but he's perfomance today was not good enough and there was clearly missing someone to help Lautaro, we were playing without strikers at one point.
I have never had the illusion we were top Scudetto contenders. We lack to much quality upfront and can’t compensate that with clean sheets. Our two most important positions: Goalkeeper and strikers aren’t strong enough. Although I was surprised we performed this well at the start of the season, and even today we didn’t play badly (in the first half). We just lack some sort of quality. Especially from our bench. Also our rivals started worse than I expected. I thought Jube and Roma would do better than they actually due until now.

People it's not the end of the world. A lot of football left to play. Yes it sucks to drop points at home but don't write this team off. I think we will win trophies this year.
I thought we had a pretty good game. We gave up two cheap goals to Bologna. They didn't create shit. It was two gifts probably due to fatigue and mental lapses. The only negative today was seeing Sanchez on the pitch. He sucks worse than Correa. Even that can be a positive. Hopefully management will see the shit fest he is and pick up a more useful strikes come winter window.

Vex the problem is that Cuadrado, Alexis, Frattesi, Augusto all where basically worse and offered even less even though they are not as tired or played as much. You want to start players that are not at all performing?
I thought augusto and cuadrado were fine when they came in, but that's beside the point, he has to rotate after the game we played midweek. Him not doing that is amateurish beyond belief. If he always needs his best eleven to win games, especially against bologna at home, than I don't know what to say anymore...

Roma has made good transfers to be a top 4 team, but not fighting for scudetto. About Juve we will see. The team is anyway not good enough for my taste. Defence and midfield are not that good. A lot of mediocre players like Mckennie are still first option for them. Only Chiesa and Vhlaovic are really great.

If this team is gassed already we have a fucking rollercoaster of a season ahead. If any professional team is gassed at this stage in the season then you either completely missed the preseason or you pushed too hard/some players are not up to the physical level (yet). You will get a recoil at a certain point. Thuram for example obviously is not at the level yet.
Alexis is a shadow of his former self. Nevermid his physical attributes.... his decission making and delivery are really bad.
Bologna will definitely ruin other plans but for us this is as bad as a loss.

You're not accounting for the single biggest factor which is Conte himself. The guy is fanatical about winning to the point of being self-destructive and clearly transmitted this to the team. For all his positives, Inzaghi does not have that same aura.

My concern is that there are some parallels between this game and the Sassuolo game. I was worried when I saw the same starting 11 as I got the idea from Sassuolo match that we could only play at a certain level for one half. The same thing happened here. Ideally, it should not have cost us as we should have been going into the break up by 2 goals.

One of my problems with Inzaghi is that he has certain players he just does not trust. The problem with this is that he then overplays certain players to the point they will be out of form for a month or more. I get that Asllani might not be his favorite player but he is Hakan's backup and should start games here and there to give Hakan a rest. If he didn't trust him, we should have pushed much earlier in the summer to send him on loan (from what I remember, we only tried in the last few days). After the break, we have Torino-Salzburg-Roma-Atalanta-Salzburg, and I doubt he starts any of those matches.

Dimarco has been great for us, but he's been poor for the last few weeks. Augusto looked good again today - he should be starting if Dimarco is tired or out of form.

Remember how shit we were in the league when we played also CL under Conte? Talking about scudetto winning season. After we went out of Europe we started delivering under Conte. We dont have roster to be successfull in all 3 fronts. Stop overrating Conte, he was shit in Tottenham. Couldnt beat fucking Pioli.

Your right thing is Inzaghi this season is pretty much on track to do exactly that 1 loss and 1 draw in 8.... I know way to small sample size but just saying that would have us with 5 losses and 5 draws at the end of the season...
Contes scudetto season we had 3 losses and 7 draws so we d end up 2 points short of conts scudetto season...

Again we re wayyyy to early in the season to make such assesment just saying...

Even if this is true, which I don't think it is, isn't it a coach's duty to realize this and then rotate in a competition that shouldn't be a massive priority like cl?

Instead, all we saw in these last three years is playing the strongest eleven basically whenever there is a chance for it. That shit isn't sustainable with his type of football, I think even birds on the branches know that already.

Well he rotated against Socieadad and we saw how it ended. Also rotated against Salerno and first half was crap show. So what would you do, would you still rotate?
And what if he realizes that we cant perform well on 3 fronts? What would he do? You think he would deliberately abandon CL and Coppa to chase scudetto? No one would do that. Every coach is aiming for biggest succes. He wants to win all.

5 points dropped against Sassuolo and Bologna - at home - is a disaster.
Say what you want about Milan but they take care of business against the midtable sides. This is usually the difference between a scudetto winner and a side that finishes 2nd or 3rd.

The annoying thing is that this was the easier part of our schedule. It’s gonna get a lot more difficult after the break.

Milan with heavy rotation against Genoa. Interested to see how this goes for them.
