Report: Inter reject Barca bid for Lautaro

Inter have reportedly rejected Barcelona's first bid of €70m plus Arturo Vidal and Nelson Semedo for the Argentine forward Lautaro Martinez.

La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolò Schira has reported that President Josep Maria Bartomeu has put Lautaro at the top of his wish list ahead of the transfer market this summer and was willing to part ways with two of his current players.

Lautaro has been linked with a move to Barcelona after stepping up his performances at San Siro this term and the reports in Italy have previously revealed a buy-out clause of €111m in his current deal.

But Schira reports that the Blaugrana were looking to find a solution to part with a lower fee and add Vidal and Semedo in a possible deal, only for the Nerazzurri to ask for the full amount in cash.

The Chilean midfielder Vidal has been targeted by coach Antonio Conte as an ideal addition to his current squad and the Blaugrana hoped Portuguese defender Semedo could be added to pivot the deal towards the required value.

The report claims that Barcelona are preparing a contract worth €10m a year for Lautaro, but will have to pay the full amount to release him from his current deal at Inter.

Marotta is playing this right. Why accept players in exchange when you know there are FFP bound as well? This will allow either:
- us to keep Lautaro at least 1 more season, until Barcelona can potentially free up funds
- us to be in better negotiation position when it comes to spreading payment (increased overall transfer value)

I also feel Lautaro should produce more than just a couple of months of good football here. Similar to Pogba transfer - use him to win before selling him.

Let Barca cough up the cash for Lautaro and if any player is considered, make a separate offer. :datass:

Why would Barcelona sell Semedo when they need to buy players in CB,LB,CM,ST and LW?
Also they made salary cut to all players.
I dont think it is true that in this time when we dont know if football will be played, that they are offering they first choice for RB , Vidal and 70millions.

Lautaro will stay , they are going for Neymar who is better player and bigger star

Feels like a deal will be done, just a question of what terms, much less when - either full fee up front or player(s) + cash. The latter will appeal to Inter if they get good value in return else clearly the full fee will have to be paid

Offering any sort of cash discount to acquire Vidal would be malpractice. I like to think Marotta is too smart for that.

Players means we can inflate the amount of plusvalenza we get for martinez. It's not an option when it's all cash. With the icardi sale looking a little bumpy and a messy window coming up, if barca offered 80 plus some useful players we could book that at like 150m easily and give the club like +130m plusvalenza. Sell icardi as well and thata 200m plusvalenza in one window.

Conte is the reason someone like Marotta is necessary. Coaches will almost always call for moronic, short-term focused decisions to achieve their immediate goals. Marotta's job is to use common sense and think about the best interest of the club.
