My thoughts on the arrival of Conte's announcement + delay due to Spalletti's brother passing. I am very curious as to what the rest of the forum think. I have been one of his biggest critics this season, but in wake of our final moments, he handled everything above and beyond like a professional.

News of his family situation really made me applaud his exit. All the best Luciano, welcome Antonio.

like you said, he's a professional and how he handled the loss of his brother further shows it. he truly liked Inter and he got us to champions league both seasons. so thanks to spalletti for his hard work, which with some luck got results.

now it's time to move on. we need to be more consistent, with a solid transfer session we should be able to challenge rubentus for the title or at least this must be our primary goal. and of course we should be more consistent in the cup competitions as well.

Spallo has to go for sure. It will be very costly to do so but he's got to go.

That said, Inter has to REALLY think about what is wrong with our club. Spallo was a coach who has played exciting, dynamic, system-based, penetrating attacking football his entire life, regardless of the players at his disposal. That is important to note, is that he's done so REGARDLESS OF THE PLAYERS at his disposal.

Why when he comes here, he cannot express that at all? Forget total implementation, but even just an expression of that dynamic attacking prowess is missing. Totally.

The style part is totally spot on though. This is something we have seen for the last 2 decades. No manager and players have led us to play any kind of reasonably attacking football. I used to attribute this to presence of Cambiasso earlier, but looks like nothing has changed even post him. The few coaches who did this in short spells like Gasperini couldn't get enough results, or time to get results.

Our squad need some serious overhaul, irrespective of the coach. And I hope there isn't some 5 man defence shit being planned for next season.

And if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle but she's isn't and we're in the CL. We were in the top 4 four for the whole season, were we complacent at points yes? Did we have 5 points less because of Parma and Fiore, yes. We deserve the CL and we got it, league tables don't lie.

With your logic, the treble inter side didn't deserve the Scudetto because they had 82 points.

He brought some stability and made us consistently the 3rd or 4th best team in the league. Unfortunately, that is not good enough. We achieved 4th with Mancini. In 2 years here, he has not gained any ground on Juve or Napoli. That is the biggest problem. He also does not have a proven track record of winning trophies, so it is not like we can sit around and hope that these were just two rough years and he will do better in the future. We gave him two seasons. If he at least got us into a battle with Napoli for second place, I could understand the support, but he just has not done enough and I don't want to sit around hoping things will change when we have access to a manager like Conte.

Spalletti did pretty much what was expected from him at Inter, which is good after so many coaches failed. He achieved it even with a small budget after #InterIsComing went pear-shaped. So full credit to him.

I also understand the view that we now need an upgrade. Specially if we have a big budget this summer due to the end of the SA. But only if its a proper upgrade. I don't think many here would be complaining if we were hiring Klopp or Pep or even Pochettino. I can completely understand that. Just like few would have a problem with selling Icardi if we invest that money to get someone like Hazard or Salah. But spending 50m-odd to replace Spalletti with Conte or selling Icardi to spend most of that money to get Lukaku? Maybe it will work out great, but right now these look like very questionable decisions.

To be honest, the best team Inter had from 2013 until 2019, was the team we had this last season, many talk about Cancelo, Rafinha etc... but our sub last year was FUCKING EDER, i think Lautaro or Keita are much better than that.
