Dimarzio also reported about the swap deal, but nothing serious right now.

Barcelona have made an attempt to swap Franck Kessie with Inter’s Marcelo Brozovic recently.

While rumours in Spain spoke about the rumours, Gianluca di Marzio has confirmed the news. It is reported that Inter have, in the last few hours, received a proposal from Barcelona to swap the two midfielders.

There have been no concrete developments on this front so far as it is an idea which can only be taken forward if the wishes of the players are taken into consideration. Two clubs have spoken through intermediaries so far and as of now, the negotiation has not taken off, claim Sky Italia.

The idea took birth at Barcelona’s end and has not taken off at Inter’s end; so far, atleast. The key part of the negotiation might be fact that both of the players’ contracts run out in 2026. Brozovic has not played for Inter since the World Cup due to injury, whereas Kessie is not considered to be a key part of the Barcelona side and there has been talk of his exit already. They also earn the same salary – €6 million per season.

Any swap deal remains complicated because Inter consider Brozovic to be a vital player.

Even tho Brozo is a better player, at the moment, i think Kessie would be better for a long term... idk, this swap is not really a big plus or a big minus.

It would be a big plus in terms of plusvalenza. Brozo will be 31 years old at the end of this year, so it is the last chance to sell him for something good. Hakan played great in his position and Kessie would finally bring some muscles for our midfield. I'm sorry to say that, but I would do this swap.

A Barella Calhanoglu Kessie midfield would be kinda tough to play against tbh..

It would be great under Conte but i don't think it would work under Inzaghi. While Conte prioritized muscle in midfield Inzaghi prefers more technical players. That midfield trio would lack in creativity big time. Kessie can only be a Barella backup in Inzaghi's system and he earns way too much to sit on the bench. Even if we decide to move on from Brozovic Kessie isn't the solution.

Initially I didn't like the idea because I consider Brozovic a better player. But then I saw the age gap between these two and I think the trade seems fair.

But I expect Inter to hesitate to let go when the time is right and ruin the chance once again.

It would be basically give Hakan the regista role for good and then add Kessie to mezzala role. Not sure if he has the legs for that tbh. Or then Kessie would just slot in to be the regista. And Hakan and Barella would be take more role in playmaking.

This would be super risky swap because of Brozovic's importance in this squad. One aspect is Brozovic has played only 620 mins this season so considerable chunk, including missing all our important CL matches. And we've managed to do fairly well without him.

So thinking long-term it could make sense if we could be certain we can use Kessie effectively AND that he's fully motivated and ready to keep working his ass off. He's 4 years younger than Brozovic.

Age is certainly on Kessie's favor but that's not enough to make the deal. We need to have a certain role in mind for Kessie in Inzaghi's system. We can't just give Kessie to Inzaghi and then expect him to figure it out. It doesn't work like that.

If Brozovic leaves, then Hakan should definitely remain the regista. It would be idiotic to change his position when he plays so well there. Besides, Kessie would be wasted as a DM. The best Kessie traits are pressure high on the pitch to steal the ball and his forward runs. We would miss that if we played him so low.

Kessie is tailor made for Barella's role. The problem is he isn't worth benching Barella for and he earns way too much to be a backup (he probably wouldn't accept it either). Unlike Conte who preferred dynamic players in CM positions (Vidal and Pogba at Juve, Barella and Vidal at Inter) Inzaghi prefers a dynamic CM and a more technical one (SMS and Luis Alberto at Lazio, Barella and Hakan at Inter). That's why Inzaghi wanted to keep Eriksen, replaced Eriksen with Hakan (who had been rejected by Conte) and replaced Vidal with Mkhi. Kessie is simply a bad fit for LCM position in Inzaghi's system.

I don't think it's so tailor made that nothing can be changed. Even Brozo -> Hakan is a change in terms of playstyle so that alone changes the dynamic of the midfield. Hakan is not so defensive minded as Brozovic. Kessie would help in that.

The point of this move would change an older player to a younger one. And bring more steel in to the lineup we are lacking. Salaries are the same, contract terms are the same. Kessie could be sold in two years if he becomes that beast again he was at Milan 2 years ago. Brozovic would be retiring at Inter.

However the biggest issue is the risk. Brozovic is a guarantee (although he's been worryingly long out now due to injuries). Kessie is a big question mark as mentioned, last time he's been good was 1,5 seasons ago.

Anyway, this is pretty academical at this point still. Intermediaries handling this so there's nothing concrete as usually it's player agents handling these if there are some interest to move. Kessie I would see could love to move to Inter. Brozovic I'm not so sure, Barcelona is surely a big club but he saw how it went with Pjanic there so would be a big career risk for him.

If the management don't offer Hakan a new contract till the end of this year, he'll leave on a free in 2024 like Perisic and now probably Skriniar.

So we'll be without a long term player on the dlp position if we now give up on Brozo unless Asllani impresses and convinces Simone until then. With that context in mind I'm against this swap though it's tempting.

How many times has Kessie started at Barcelona? You would be trading a vital player from your side for one that isn’t even in the starting 12 of the other team.

Kessie for Gosens makes more sense.

According to Pedulla, if Barcelona made an official Kessie-Brozovic swap offer Inter would consider it at the right conditions

what are the "right conditions"?

It makes sense from a financial view, considering that Brozovic is 30 years old, earning €6m net with 3.5 years remaining on his contract. Kessie is 26 and earning €4.5m with the same time left on his contract. That said, Kessie would presumably get a pay raise when signing for us anyway. Imagine paying fucking Kessie €5m+

Biasin says that at the moment (highlighting these words) there's no offer from Barcelona for a Brozovic-Kessie swap deal.

seems suicidal because brozovic roles and passing ability would be crucial, but at least it would trigger gagliardini exit early:)
