And Marotta managed to give Juve in the same 3 years : Anelka, Bentdner , Lucio , Boriello , Elia , Estigarribia , Motta, Ziegler , Almiron , Krasic , Martinez.

As i've said thousand times our problem are not transfers. Every club has it's own fuck ups and great deals
The problem is Inter fucks up more often than not. If you compare the great deals in the past 3 years between Juve and Inter, its not even close.

Never mind, im not blaming individuals when it comes to transfers (or praising for that matter). It's either everyone or no one :D

Rolando was not Branca's call:

” I had Rolando for a few months at Napoli and I know his pros and cons. I wanted him because I think he is helpful to our cause. Wallace on the other hand is young, has great prospects, but he just arrived recently, and don’t want to say too much before I know him well. If we got him, it is because we consider him important. ” - Mazzarri

Sometimes we tend to blame Branca for everything... not all of Inter's great signings in Mancio-Mou era were to Branca's credit, and not all of the shite signings since are his fault. Rolando is clearly a Mazzarri request, Branca may have done the negotiations, but he did not choose this player. Considering that its not a poor deal financially, Branca did his job well in this case.

Wallace on the other hand seems to be a typical Branca screw-up....

A good article on how sporting directors are supposed to work. I hope Branca subscribes to the Guardian.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/aug/30/sporting-director-tottenham

Some interesting quotes

A central component is that the playing and recruitment philosophy should be determined by the sporting director, which prevents the first-team squad from being torn up every time a coach is appointed.

"The structure allows you to build a bigger picture," says Ashworth, who left Albion this year to become director of elite development at the Football Association. "We went through a cycle of two or three head coaches and what we couldn't have is a whole change of player recruitment philosophy, because it's extremely costly and time consuming. So in the interview process for a head coach, it would be: 'This is our philosophy, these are the profiles of our players, this is how we recruit, are you happy to buy into that?'"

This is the biggest problem with Branca. He has absolutely no vision or football philosophy. Look at the managers who've (permanently) signed since Mourinho – Benitez, Gasperini, Stramaccioni, Mazzarri. All wildly different coaches in terms of style. It's no wonder that every summer we're looking to replace half the squad. Moratti would save a lot of money in transfer fees if Branca was able to 1) develop some kind of long term plan/vision/style and 2) actually execute it (ie, hire coaches who all fit that plan).

Whenever we go looking for a new coach, we just try to sign some kind of big name or 'flavor of the month' coach instead of finding a coach who is actually consistent with some sort of long-term vision. If (when?) we fail to get into the CL next summer and we're looking for a scapegoat, Branca should be the first to go. Unless some miracle happens, it doesn't matter how many coaches we sign and replace, how many players we buy and sell – we won't achieve progress with Branca in charge.

Tbf I don't know exactly how the power structure works at Inter or if Branca even has a say in who is hired as a manager. But if our sporting director doesn't have a say in choosing a manager, then Moratti should also read the article.

I dont agree.

As far as most FIF experts know, Branca simply does what he is told by some unknown mastermind or Moratti.

So he is not to be blamed or should not be blamed for anything and everything.

In fact, his title of 'sporting director' is completely misleading with the job he does. We will need to find a more suitable title for him, such as 'Moratti's Executive Assistant' or simply 'The puppet'.

Planning? Thats not part of Branca's job, Moratti does all of it.

Branca said it himself the past 3 years the target of the mercato was to decrease the wage budget, when we gave him the money he does his job well.

players wages and the average age of the squad have decreased. but it came at the expense of humiliating our club and becoming a europa league team. there's nothing demonstrating shrewd like business moves. the aim is to decrease those things while maintaining a good team quality. any regular joe can decrease the wage budget if you sell your good players and buy crap ones

That's why Cambiasso, Milito and Zanetti are still the biggest earners. Not to mention Chivu.

Job well done.

You know you have to cut wages but you go back on contracts of your best players while ignoring less impact players.
Getting useless players with wages that no one will take off your hands unless its a loan barely.
Having no vision on when to sell or what to sell and how much to sell for.
Having no vision on when to buy how to buy and how much its worth to buy at..
Being a dick to alot of players
Missing on players who have potential and want to come here.
Even when you make a proper deal it goes to the last day of the mercato.

Don't worry this is the last year of their contracts. I mean they'll still get renewed because that's how much power they wield but they won't be making as much. Most likely. Maybe.

Could you please specify these players? I am curious which of them you consider being part of this category.
