If I have to grade the transfers (a bit premature, will do so again in a few months time when we have a better idea):

IN:
Nagatomo: A-
He looks perfect as a wingback to implement Gasp's formation, a decent bargain deal too.

Alvarez: B-
Looks talented, but we paid too much for him - there were better deals to be had for that money.

Jonathan: B+
Don't know how good he is, will give Branca the benefit of doubt. But we needed this back up at RB, and didn't spend too much.

Forlan: A
And excellent bargain deal, even if a short term one. Forlan is a champion, we know what we will get from him.

Poli: B
Talented youngster, good for back up, and we didn't spend much. Option to buy looks good too. Risk free transaction.

Zarate: B
Decent x-factor to have on the wing for Gasp. But his temperament/work rate is questionable. Ok move under the circumstances.

Kucka: B+
A talent acquired (50%) quite cheaply for half of Viviano (which cost us about 2m)

Viviano: B+
A possible long term replacement for Cesar, again very cheaply acquired.

OUT:
Eto'o: B+
Economically, this sale "saved" Inter about 100m in 3 years (transfer fee + wages). It was a forced move, but in the end, perhaps a sensible one. If we had got 5-10m more for him, I would have called this move a work of genius. Still, cannot give more than B+ for losing our best player.

Santon: B-
Sad to see him go, but he just wasn't cutting it. I would have prefered a loan move, but I guess 6m is a lot of money.

Mariga: B+
Good save on the wages. Obi & Poli are much more talented. We did not need Mariga.

Pandev: A
Good riddance, he is just not Inter standard. Excellent save on the wages.

Muntari & Rivas: A+
Never thought we will be able to get rid of them.

Suazo (end of contract) & Materazzi (retd) - cannot rate them, but more saves on wages.

Overall Grade for Branca: A-
Under the financial circumstances, he came through. Bought a lot of young talent for the future, and in the last 12 months he has rumoured to have reduced our wage bill by almost 50% (as per GdS, anyone can verify this??). If this is true, Branca is a f***** legend!

Edit: the expected loan move of Muntari never materialised... make that "A+" into a "B-", and perhaps downgrade Branca's work from a "A-" to a "B+". He still did a creditable job, under the circumtances... I guess it is hard to sell a player who earns 3m a year and cannot make a pass.

A- ? Get real. That's way too kind. For me the fact that they offered 10 million for Palacio almost negates anything else Branca has done.

O and you haven't heard? We didn't get rid of Muntari.

Getting rid of Branca and bringing Leo instead?

How can you guys give grades for transfers already?

Alvarez, Jonathan, Cas have absolutely no track record. That means they are straight up 100% gambles. How the fuck can you grade Alvarez a "B", when in the same mercato, Pjanic and Vidal (MUCH better players) went for 10-11mil? Unless Alvarez performs SIGNIFICANTLY better than them and tears it up for Inter, his transfer would be a straight up grade Z-, since better players were available and we didn't sign them.

This hurts the most alongside offering 10 million for Palacio!!

IN:
Nagatomo: B - YUTO!!!
Alvarez: C - I want him to succeed but we should have and could have spent the money on better players.
Jonathan: C - Even with the sale of Santon, he still looks like an expensive backup.. Fararoni should have been used and we could have spent the money else where.
Forlan: B - Old, completely against our "youth revolution", but he looks fit still hopefully he succeeds.
Poli: A+ - Easily our best signing! The best thing we did this summer without a doubt.
Zarate: B+ - Another good deal. Made a lot of people here forget how truly awful our transfer market actually was.
Kucka: F - Not needed, and we're not even going to see him this year... We basically just gave away money and half of a talented goal keeper for nothing...
Viviano: F - We didn't even want him and got him because of Bologna's retarded Sporting Director. I can give Branca no praise for this, not to mention the fact that we've valued him lower than Kucka.. and we've practically given him away to Genoa for Kucka :palm:

OUT:
Eto'o: D - The deal is absolutely disgusting! Since when is a European "powerhouse" bullied but an unknown Russian team when selling a player. And our "savings" from this deal is vastly exaggerated.
Santon: E - Watch Newcastle sell him next season for double or even triple the amount they paid for him in a couple of seasons. Do we not know how to hustle or even get more money for our players FFS!
Mariga: C - Like Muntari, Suazo, Rivas, Obinna, they won't buy him and next year we will have problems selling him, just watch..
Pandev: C - We're paying over 3 million euros a season, so that Napoli can kick our asses next season. We couldn't even do that right...
Rivas: F - Should have been never been bought and we paid this guy money to leave..

Overall Grade for Branca: E
Economics: C - We're only about - 10 million euros this summer, not bad..
Purchases: C - Mehhh.. Tassi and Alborno though, shows promising signs..
Sales: F - Incompetent is the only word, I can use for Branca. He simply can not sell a player.. only a superstar.
Squad Improvements: E - We're worse than we are in May.
Future Perspective: D - Feeling very uneasy about Forlan and the sale of Santon.
FFP Readiness Perspective: F - The savings from Eto'o have pretty much been used up...

Two questions Nyall have you read the complete breakdown of the Eto'o deal where it shows that the club made a 100 million and also have you ever seen Kucka play? Because your criticism is harsh and we did not give away Viviano he's co-owned by Genoa there's a difference and if we don't want to keep him, meh I honestly think he's nothing special and I prefer Sirigu.

LOL and about Santon I'll take that bet, 6 million for that headless chicken is one hell of a deal.

Nobody really cares about all your ratings or grades or whatever anyone calls them. It's early to judge any player. You never know, maybe both Zarate and Forlan will flop, and Jonathan will shine and be a key player. Do these "grades/ratings" in January, and maybe someone will give a fuck.

Judging the players already? :palm:

I wanna see what people judged our signing of Lucio and Milito two years ago then :howler:

I don't remember that happening, but now we have some future predictors, or as Uncle Black would say: "experts".

for a while i've been wondering why branca is in la grande. i haven't read through the thread but i'll assume it's mostly because of the eto-ibra swap and lucio?

if it is then i don't really agree with it. i doubt we twisted barcas arm for the ibra deal. everyone knows they're more than prepared to throw huge sums at players and make bad transfers. lucio was an awesome transfer, mou wanted carvalho and branca wanted lucio. i'd rather have lucio of course... but carvalho is still playing well. who knows how well he could have done for us. and don't forget lucio was unwanted at bayern. so it's not like we twisted their arm either. i don't need to mention brancas bad decisions cause we all know them. i dunno if anyone feels they outweigh his good ones? i'm kinda undecided on that, but even being undecided makes me wonder is he's la grande

He is in la Grande not just as our technical director but also that he played some dam good football in the couple years he was with us IMO. He was one of those players that moved around too much. If he had settled at one club for a decent amount of time i think he may have become alot better. During his time though, there was a hell of alot of great strikers playing at the big clubs in serie A.

Because he played a major part in building the second la grande inter. Compare our mercato's with branca and when just oriali was doing it, major difference.

If Gasperini was really Branca's choice, then we really have to question his judgement. Then it's been already two fuckups with coach decision in two years (Benitez, Gasperini).
