If thiago wasn't injured, he's still the better player by far. From skill, technique, tactical depth, through actual execution, it's not even a close contest between the two.

He was the best player for barca b, he was amazing in that u21 tournament with spain, was dubbed xavi's successor and left barca because he didnt play enough. He had alot of success already, and maybe if kova had the same path, he could too. But he didnt, so i guess he will have to prove himself the hard, long way, like modric. While thiago alcantara is already on THE high level.

Thiago is also a more capable goalscorer and free kick taker.

I hope kova will be just as good, depends on mancini from now on.

Honestly Kova has all the potential to be better then Thiago 3 years of playing at the highest level is a lot for a player who is 20.... serie a is ten times more defensive then la Liga I would have loved to see Thiago here at that age making the impact and passes Kova does.

There seems to be a bit of self loathing and general overrating of players who aren't ours on this forum.

Thiago is a rare talent, I've said it on this forum many times. I think Barca were silly for letting him go because I thought he had more natural talent than Xavi. However, Kovacic is also a rare talent. He's not as polished as Thiago, but I don't see any reason he can't reach a similar level if he continues to improve.
