This is like comparing Vieri to Ronaldo, clearly Ronaldo is the better player, endowed with incredible natural talent thanks to his brazilian/samba roots but guess what.... they're both world class players only their style of play is different.

Mazzari's stubbornness stunted Kovacic's game. Like Xavi early on in his career, Kova is under-rated and misused. He's under a new coach surrounded by a new batch players for the umpteenth time while we embark on another year zero. At 20 I don't expect much from a midfielder. Instead criticizing, let him grow.

And by the way, as good as Thiago is, he's also inconsistent (over flamboyant, unnecessary mispasses) and and injury prone.

i stated quite clearly that Ronaldo was world class. In fact as a striker, i rate him higher than messi. I was simply highlighting some of the negatives of Thiago game.

and who is, Kuz and Guarin?? Smh right now Kova is the our best player in terms of talent. Mazzari dented his confidence and natural game playing him as an AMF trying to get him to shoot more... he's a CMF. Why not let Kova play where he is comfortable?

Again, a player being more prone to injuries have nothing to do with how good they are on the pitch, hence the ronaldo question. Ofc if he was made of glass like diaby, there could be a point made that he didnt even play that many gamea, making it hard to evaluate how good he is...but he played enough.

The only reason i see kova playing amc right now is the shortage of players we need to play what mancini wants. I can see kova playing as lcm or cm in a four men midfield when the right acquisitions are made. Guarin has proved himself a lot more against bigger opposition, be it juve, milan, napoli, tottenham...not that good against roma, sadly they have him 'figured' out.

Guarin is not a player i would even like here, but his direct impact in bigger games is more notable than kovas. Also kova needs some rest, that is why i hope he doesn't play today. While we can agree on talent, talent still isn't enough to bring points.

The point is we are in a situation where we can't afford to pay for top talents who are already developed. We can either buy young talents before they've proven themselves. Or we can buy squad players who will never be top class, e.g. Alvarez or Kuzmanovic.

At Dinamo Zagreb, Kovacic was known to be a tremendous talent and a starter with more Champions League experience than maybe half our squad has ever seen. I don't know how much more development you could've realistically expected without the price exploding. And let's face it, if Kovacic had not been on shitty teams for the last two seasons coached by losers like Mazzarri and thus possibly developed more than he has now, his value would be much higher than €20m.
