I can't remember much happening at all for the entire team during our preseason games. I'm not sure that's a good time to judge him. Especially when Mancini was popping molly before filling out the lineup card.

take preseason games out of the picture and what i said still holds up. most of the time icardi still looks like a really limited striker. he had a few good games where there was improvement, but thats not enough to say its not an issue anymore.

Poacher or not, Icardi's biggest flaw is that he is a pussy.

I feel like it's more about him not wanting to get involved, rather than being incompetent at link up. On many occasions he drops back and the people he passes to end up assisting Guarin or Brozovic instead of Icardi.

I don't know too many complete strikers at the age of 22.... Let's just temper our expectations of what to expect from a very young man still. Maybe he'll develop into a more well-rounded player. Maybe he won't. But expecting a striker without flaws at 22 is a bit much.

First Inter player to be on the cover of FIFA I believe? (Italian version)

Remember Vieira and Vieri have both been on the cover but not when they were at Inter.

Honestly, there are some weird players on the cover this year. Cuadrado in South American, I believe Jordan Henderson is on the English cover? Still though, good for him. Probably earn him a few dollars so he can buy Wanda some new shoes or butt implants

I doubt Milan fans would be very happy about that cover. Also, Buffon.

he is criminally underrated here.

and enough with the labeling him "poacher", poacher my ass. Cant put him in a category with italian known "poacher" strikers, he is way more complete than inzagi and way more versatile than luca toni.

you dont need tons of "research", just watch his last season goals, he is very agile to be called a poacher, he is strong, he is fast, as i mentioned agile, and has a decent ball control.

but thats just me... might be wrong.

Guess Pogba was the obvious choice, but the season Icardi had last season would say he deserves it and free advertising for us! All part of Thohir's master plan.:troll:

I was pretty impressed with his all-round play last season, he had a few good assists and in general his passing wasn't bad, he combined well with Palacio, expect him to only get better this season. Definitely don't consider him a pylon cone like Van Nistelrooy or Inzaghi.

Icardi on the cover and Inter the only italian team in the demo... I think some of Kovacic's sale money went somewhere other than strengthening the squad. :eek:blivious:

Inzaghi was also very agile.

I wonder if people who say Icardi is not a poacher have actually watched pochers.

Who do you guys call poacher? Inzagi? Pazzini? If you have actually watched those players you would know that their game is not very much different than Icardi's. You guys make it sound like a pocher is just a pole standing in the penalty area.

I think Icardi is more than just a one dimensional forward he does show glimpses of it and Mancini does want him to work harder in build up play. I'm sure he'll be more complete.

Everbody has a glimpse! A glimpse is not enough. Wera just showed a glimpse of Inzagi playing like a complete forward so let's go ahead and call Inzagi a complete forward.

Again, a poacher doesn't the guy is a pole standing in the penalty area. They could run around, have a goal from outside the box or have a great run here or there but their game generally depends on being at the right place at the right time and tapping the ball in the goal. Icardi does that 95% of the time so he is a poacher.

:palm:

show me a poacher who can beat his man and who scores screamers from outside the box. strong, fast, performs under pressure, and a deadly finish. and he regulary delivers assists to. " he sucks" - fif

@Seyedo - Fucking thank you. That's exactly it, and weirdly some are treating that as a bad thing. Toni is the definition of a poacher, and he was joint top goalscorer with Icardi last year. Being at the right place at the right time is not something everybody understand, but some consistently score just on the strenght of that.

A poacher might have some limitations in his game like not being a great passer compared to some others, but the same can be said about different kind of players.

If Icardi becomes even more coldblooded than he looks in some games, he can be amazing for us in the next few years. Players like that are invaluable to Italian teams, especially at that age, he has a natural instinct. I just don't want him to lose his cool.

People are quick to forget that Icardi is only 22... give the guy a break.
No, he's no Aguero or Messi who can dribble past 4 players but he does what he's supposed to do, be in the right place at the right time and clinical in front of goal.

His greatest strength are his runs. Check out this video, the majority of the goals happened because he picked up a space and made a run through it. Say what you will about him being a poacher but knowing how and when to make these runs are very important for a striker.
