Eh. Sample size is small but the evidence is even simpler than that:
With the exception of Milan who finished 4th last season, we haven’t played a single team from last season’s top 8. And yet we’re still dropping points and losing at home to shit sides after taking the lead. Inexcusable.
Milan’s schedule has been much, much tougher than ours. They played last season’s runner ups and dismantled them without ever having to go above 60%. They got trashed by us but also humiliated Roma away and more importantly, haven’t dropped a single point against the smaller teams.
What I’m saying is minus the derby, they’ve shown an ability to reliably beat teams both big and small. We objectively have not.
Milan's schedule much tougher than ours? According to what?
Like I said, on paper these teams may appear stronger or more difficult to beat, but in the pitch it was a completely different story from what we have seen out of all these matches.
You guys are overrating Milan so much. I'm even sceptic whether you watch their matches or just posting based on full time results. In reality, they should have dropped points against Genoa if it wasn't for that blatant robbery. It was a thing which was deciding the match, not your usual mistake by the referee which isn't a direct factor to match result.
I may agree that we haven't been as sharp as we have been since Derby della Madonnina, but at the same time we dominated our opponents and created far more than Milan did against their opponents in these matches. I remember before a few years under Mancini, we had a streak of consecutive 1-0 wins, can't remember exactly but I think it was around seven or eight straight wins with minimal results. What I mean is, our performances weren't convincing but we still have gotten points, so eventually we ran out of luck.
I'm not saying that Milan is always lucky, because this is how they play. But they aren't that good either. In most of cases they have been rather lucky than competent enough. They may even improve from now on, but from all these matches I have seen so far, they are far from convincing tbh. Their wins over Roma, Torino and Lazio aren't convincing me at all, despite that their opponents were "stronger" on paper.
I have seen a far heavier bite by Empoli against us, than Roma did against Milan, or even Torino. Never underestimate other team's tactical discipline. I even feel like other teams tend to overperform against us. We are being labelled as the biggest favourite for Scudetto, therefore we will have teams super motivated and will spit blood against us.
I really don't get all this hype behind Milan's run so far. There's so much inconsistence in individual aspect that players like Theo have been average at best lately and he still gets away with it. Then you have Leao whom is their best player but still fades away for major time. He's extremely unpredictable because he can pull a moment of brilliance and win the game but in overall he lacks consistence. Not even going further on Giroud, Pulisic, Chukwueze, Reijnders and some others whom have been far from convincing.
