Unfortunately, a disappointment awaits FiF fans...

It's a fun summer in any case. Imagine how fun it's going to be if our only attacker coming here is Duda.

Not trying to anti-jinx or anything. His best performances came under a very well coached and executed attacking system (montella) with several playmakers. We don't have that here. He's lost his quick burst, doesn't really take on players 1v1, and he's also much less versatile than he used to. He didn't make it in pellegrini's 4-2-2-2 system as one of the 2 wide attacking midfielders and had to try to hack it as a forward. That was very surprising and disappointing tbh. Again, ManC under pellegrini is also a well coached offensive team tactically. Again, something we won't have.

Still a very good player with great technique, just not one I would buy, particularly for a coach who's not sure what we'll be playing tactically. We need more offensive versatility. Not less.

I still don't think he failed at Man City from a playing standpoint. It's tough to find your role in a team when you're in and out of it so frequently. The general opinion of their fans is that he's a very talented player that just couldn't get off the treatment table. However there are also some fans who think he didn't try hard enough in the games where he was fit.

He'a not a stellar athlete and we shouldn't expect him to track back a ton it we're going to play him as a winger, but IMO his ability in the attacking third would make us a better team. If we want the ability to switch between 4-3-3 and 4-3-1-2 IMO he's the best buy. However if we want to play 4-2-3-1 he's not going to do enough defensively.

I'd also like to add he seems to be a big game player. Good performances and goals against Liverpool & Chelsea during his time in England despite his reduced playing time and not being fully integrated.

One thing, his best season was 11/12 under Prandelli. He had one great season under Montella but his reputation had been built long before that.

Exactly, we need that special x factor type of player. A player you can rely on and a player that will form a partnership with Icardi. Be it an AM (a Sneijder type of player), be it a winger who free roams and dictates play (still hoping for Shaqiri to be that one, but like I said before, right now I don't feel he is good enough for that at Inter and that I doubt Mancini would give him that role) or a winger-forward type like Jovetić was or like Palacio is, but younger.

This club needs a Sanchez/Hazard, but I doubt we can snatch somebody as good as that.

Yes, he had a reputation before. Just like a young ljajic. Personally, i thought his season under Montella was by far his best. From a maturity and tactical standpoint, he was virtually unstoppable in serie A.

I never said he failed at City, generally. What was a disappointment to me is that he couldn't hack it as one of the wide attacking midfielders (nasri/silva). That's a big disappointment because it essentially means, dude cannot play wide or AM. And he's no striker either. Which means, at this point, he's an SS only.

I can easily see a situation where we buy him, mancini "changes his mind" tactically, and jovetic has no place in the squad.

Just to be clear, i think he's still a very good player.

Well, we can always sack Mancini in December and hire Montella.

If we pay €21m, or anywhere near that for Jovetic, we are not just stupid, but completley braindead.

I would gamble on Jovetic if Man city is willing to take the deal which the transfer fee is tied to the number of match he plays.

So you mean we get him for free? He won't play any games because he's always injured lol!

Inter: Thohir at the interview for Jovetic

July 5 at 22:45

Inter are still very active on the market. As learned from Calciomercato.com, Erick Thohir is still in London to close for Stevan Jovetic. Up to an hour ago, the Inter president was meeting with leaders of Manchester City.

BACK IN ITALY ONLY with STEVAN - A return on the night of Indonesian tycoon would mean the closure of the deal. Thohir, if he were to stay longer in the capital, however, it would mean that the parties are still far apart. The Inter number one is willing, however, to conclude the purchase of the 25 year-old Montenegrin and willing to remain on English soil until they reach an agreement with City.

I don't trust calciomercato.com much as their director is a fucking BBilanista

I hope we play 442 diamond as its the best formation for seria a. In that case, Jovetic is a perfect fit next to Icardi.
We would switch to 433 at times which Jovetic can do with a good cover behind him, but he shouldnt be stuck on wing and we shouldnt play with wingers all the time

Bit off topic but I have no idea what the difference is between the 4-4-2 diamond and the "4-3-1-2" we were apparently playing last season, Medel plays just as close to the defence (if not closer) as Hernanes does to the 2 strikers.

4-4-2 diamond/rombo and 4-3-1-2 are all the same formation. Just different names.

but 4-3-1-2 is a misleading name as it suggests the CDM is just another member of the midfield whereas the CAM/trequartista is not.

Y'all mistaken, 442 diamond alias 4132 diamond has a midfield like this:
trequartista
wide midfielder wide mid
dmf

While 4312 alias 41212 has a midfield like this:
trequartista
central mid central mid
dmf

Same thing that is.

I dont like these modern formations, soon its gonna be 1212112
Stupid.. Formations should be 3 numbers, for defense, midfield and attack. After that it all depends on the plAyers you use.
