The last thing I want for Inter is an outdated old Italian president, so welcome.

Moratti: ‘Inter in good hands’
By Football Italia staff

Former Inter President Massimo Moratti believes the club “is in good hands” with Steven Zhang - “it’d be a serious error to underestimate him”.

The 27-year-old is the youngest President in the club’s history, with the son of Suning owner Jindong Zhang confirmed in the role yesterday.

“Beautiful Inter, once again you surprise and fascinate,” Moratti wrote in today’s Corriere della Sera.

“The Presidency of the very young Zhang is a breath of fresh air in the world of Italian football, like the brushstroke of a brilliant artist.

“Bravo to Steven for deciding to directly and officially guide one of the biggest and most storied clubs, perhaps the most loved by its fans.

“It’d be a serious error to underestimate him because of his age or lack of experience, he’s an intelligent lad who has also been forced to use cunning in a different environment and different world from his.

“His great education makes him seem shy, but he isn’t. When you talk to him he appears to hang on your every word, but he has the look of someone who is studying you and has already worked out how to respond.

“He’s awake and modern in the way he plans for the future and communicates, as well as being generous to those who deserve it.

“In short, I think we’re in good hands.

“I think he’ll love Inter and fight to make them win, without raising his voice but with great determination. I’m confident and curious to see how he grows in this wonderful adventure.

“A President, an owner, carries with him the passion and feeling of all the fans, and that shouldn’t be a burden but a great privilege, the way I always saw it.

“Forza my beautiful Inter.”

He's too young to be our president, don't get me wrong I really like him, but loving the club and be a fan is something, being its president is another. He lacks experience, this is serious business and not child play. I'm worried it's not his own ideas that'll be shaping this club but the ones who work beneath him, I'm glad he's got Zanetti by his side but employees like Ausilio and soon to be Marotta will be the ones that'll have the final say about our policies and transfers, and this worries me a bit.

He's by far much better than Thohir, at least he's always around and that's very important.

Papa Zhang let Steven took control at Inter as a learning ground before he took charge in Zhang empire. This like a real test for him, and I had no doubt he will do anything to made this working successfully or else he will get kicked out from the family and not gonna get share over zhang empire.

So rich kid gets his first toy? Let's see how it goes..

If that is the intention of the Zhang family, then there is no doubt there will be people to use that as leverage for their needs at Inter. These are businessman foremost, fans/supporters second.

anyways, the zhang family directly in charge is very good for Inter. they cannot afford a failure, their image would be hurt

Dev, give me couple of serious examples where his age and inexperience will be a problem. And having Marotta to have a say about transfers is a great thing, that will be his job. I would be worried if we hire super qualified staff and then have all decisions be made from the president.

It's not about being a problem, it's about having the foresight to draw the club's future plans, this takes experience not just managerial, but football wise, he has only spent two years in the football business, I bet he knows too little about the game and its history to use as a referral when taking serious decisions.

However, managing this particular business relies about luck more than anything else, almost every decision you make is a gamble, there are no laws or constants in football. So I wish him best of luck.

I personally hope his first decision this summer mercato is to bring Mourinho or Simeone, then this should set the foundation of a solid ground to build the future on.

He's replacing Erick Thorir.

The standard is so low, that Steven is already a great President by not being that stupid piece of shit.

When Thohir was president all the important decisions had to go through the Suning board in China, Sabatini used to go all the way there to discuss any decision.

Now that Steve becomes working president, this routine is long gone. I think he'll play a bigger role as a president than Thohir's.

Why are people getting so worked up? I thought this position is more ceremonial in the decision structure.

It's very common in Asia for big families to hand over the reins of a part of the families' empire for the next generation. And while you have read a lot of stories about trust fund babies, scenarios where the kid flourished are a lot more.

So while it may be be uncommon in the Western world, it is a practice that has been done for decades, if not centuries, in this part of the world. Rest assured that Steven Zhang must have been prepared his whole life for moments like this.

It was not planned, it was his Destiny. This great responsibility has been handed to him at such a young age, but that doesn't mean that we can not accept it. If he's our Destiny then we shall honor him and we will fight for him in the name of our ancestors because he's our rightful king.

Oh fuck.. I was just watching 47 Ronin followed by The Last Samurai back to back.. that Eastern culture is all over my head now

Just give it time, it'll worn off.

It is not only in Asia. If Universe or Devious owns an empire, they certainly pass it to their children. Bill Gates is rare. Kin selection is a thing that never go away.

It looks like a big responsibility to all here. But in terms of total net worth and business cap that Papa Zhang has, this might just be a child's toy for him. For Steven, it is a stepping stone to prove him mettle and take over the bigger business.

In short, he will do his best. But if things go south, they would not lose their sleep on it.
