Suning's era (more specifically starting from Marotta's era) is another La Grande Inter to me. That period will be written in Inter's history forever. Obviously not as successful as the two Moratti eras, but Zhang's last day at Inter ended up dominating Serie A and a serious power in Europe.

I struggle to see why would he just be "former". If it wasn't for Suning our midfield would be something like

20 year old from Peru with great youtube highlights - mediocre mid table italian - some premier league has been (henderson?)

Because there's Suning and then there's Kangyang.

Suning is "LGI material". Kangyang is not.

That's where i disagree. Steven was the face of Suning in Italy since 2018. Why do we need to separate the two? When you talk about Steven Zhang you refer to Suning. We haven't heard from papa Zhang in ages so Steven takes credit for both good and bad even if he was just a spokesperson.

I get the reasoning but the kid hasn't been in Italy in like 2 years.

I'm separating the two because we were owned by a company, not the owner of the company. Take Steve Zhang out of the equation and you don't have a single change in club ownership structure. Not even a dot changes.
Being an overpaid mouthpiece doesn't make you the decision maker.

After some time he definitely had an actual role, but the significance is overstated.

But this is not correct

We were owned by the family vehicle which is personally owned. Our ownership structure has literally nothing to do with Suning the retail giant.

It's like arguing glazers don't own United because they have a holding company called Red Football that actually owns United, which they own.

We were owned by a company held entirely by his father.

My point stands.

I've no idea why you alwyas jump to "correct" someone as if anyone implied that Inter was owned by the washing machine selling entity

Because your point is daft? You could make the same argument for so many other clubs and it makes zero material impact on anything. Do Glazers not own United because Red Football actually hold their shares? What about Clearlake Capital and Chelsea?

I'd bet very few clubs are now "directly" owned by an owner, almost all of them will have intermediate holding companies... But so what? Oh actually, fuck Red Football but we don't blame the Glazers...

Also, it'd really help your point a lot if you stopped saying things like "Suning are worthy of LGI" - Suning in common language refers to Suning the retailer which has little to do with Inter. If you want to say "Suning Sports Co" is worthy of LGI, then make that distinction, but point me to one entry in the LGI forum which is a legal entity not a person. You know who the real Inter MVP is? Grand Towers SpA 🤣🤣🤣 bet those shirts sell like fucking hot cakes in the club store.

And yeah, forget Facchetti he was just a spokesperson the real MVP was the formation. (To be clear I'm making a point)

Suning got Marotta who did all the heavy lifting for our pitch success...Suning made us look like a real football again, they did the max with limited financing in last years.
Steven was just the mascot for Suning as the presidente. I'm sure all the major decisions were made by papi Zhang...

Man all I know is the dude was an absentee president and was clearly not pulling the strings. I don’t see how anybody can argue that he was a figurehead, felt like a puppet during his time and I honestly would dismiss all of my criticism of him IF he was fucking present. But that’s just me.

Since Oaktree take over, we want to extend Inzaghi's contract till 2026 only, fail to sign Bento and aim for a reverse GK instead, and now it seems we're willing to sell Hakan without replacement as well.

But I heard that we'll be 10x better without Zhang.

Oh, and please move this thread to LGI, the poll closed already.

Owners do not have to be present to be successful. Of course, it helps, but it makes little difference when you have competent management.

In playing terms, the likes of Sensi and Cuadardo were present but they did 5/8's of fuck all.

I am not voting in LGI anymore because it is complete bullshit.
