BTW anybody on here familiar with the turkish market? The way erdogan has fucked that economy there could be more then a couple bargains if he looses the election in may. Especially with kilicdaroglu(SP?) talking about making turkey more friendly to foregin investors again also him being an economist helps a lot.

Fair enough polls would suggest that it s closer than it has ever been with erdogan...
Just saying if the erdogan loses theres gonna be a lot of free alpha tp pick up in turkey, might be worth to put in some time even if probability is low.

Kilicdaroglu wants to deport 3 million syrians so not what people make him out to be, pretty far from it. Hard to see how much more "conventional" he will be in terms of economic policy.

Seeing the exchange rate eur/usd, gbp/usd is baffling.

Inflation data... Also you ll be completely dependent on what the fed does...To me the data we get is very mixed, and we are not even close to getting inflation in control. (look at Japans numbers)
Of course it all depends on your time horizon as markets seem to think a rate cut is around the corner but markets have been thinking this for tha last three rounds and have been utterly wrong.
It really all boils down to what is worse in the feds eyes a mild recession or inflation that stays above 4%-5%? My guess would be that they wont pivot till Inflation comes down significantly, partially cause a slight recession would actually help with that.

Then again if you re okay with locking in current high yields and just wait till the pivot thats a reasonable idea... I personally dont mind earning 5% on my investment even if the pricipal still loses money i know that within 1 or two years the principal will be up and till then i m fine collecting 5%...

In other news: LOL amazon we saw the fucken AWS slow don comming the last at least two quarters yet market seems absolutely surprised by it.

Funny thing is that deposits were basically insured after the SVB debacle.... Like there was no way in hell they are gonna save SBV and let depositors of another bank get wiped out right after that...
Goes to show how frickle the industry is and how little depositors care/know... Why anybody was still running to pull their deposits from first republic is kind of hard to grasp... unless they had as bad exposure as some pf SVB clients had but looking at the amount of outflows one has to conclude that a lot of save deposits moved tooo. I guess i underestimated the psychologie of most people there was no rational to pull money from First republic yet the masses apparently did it and thus killed FRB. Then again the banking is a sector where once fear spreads there is virtually nothing a regulator/bank can do to calm markets...

In other news terrible data out of china yesterday and markets are stuck again in a limbo between shits goona hit the fan we re fucked and shits gonna hit the fan the fed will have to pivot......
