Wow, Life is Strange won an award for best storytelling? That’s something I didn’t expect to happen in our timeline. I played the first game and thought it sucked ballz. In general I consider myself a fan of those interactive movie type of games like Heavy Rain, Detroit: Become Human, Until Dawn, even The Wolf Among us (despite Telltale sucking ballz too).
Life Is Strange’s story is a complete and utter mess… some of those chapters, Jesus Christ lol. The one where you need to run errands for your best friend (a major cunt), who as been paralyzed from the neck down since the previous chapter and the final one where the teacher is revealed to be some cartoonishly crazy and evil pedophile were a pain in the ass to play through. Not only were the purposes of those stories themselves really wacky, but the game is absolutely littered with garbage level dialogue, unauthentic and unlikable characters, and „choices“ which don’t matter in the slightest from start to finish. The gameplay is really fucking awful too, Max moves at the pace of a crippled snail and is about as agile as a lorry.
Easily the worst game I’ve played in the PS4 generation, quite possibly even the worst game I’ve played in general.
Anyway, I came here to talk about Doom Eternal. Started playing in January I believe, got my ass handed to me repeatedly and stopped playing after 5 missions. Now that we’re in lockdown again I thought it’d be a good idea to finally complete the game. And in fact, it turned out to be a good idea. Had a rough start because I was right at the end of a level, with all objectives completed, but wasn’t able to find my way to the quest marker for 30 mins. Then got my butt kicked again in the next level, but after finding my groove it’s been a lot of fun. It’s a tough game if you’re not used to the high paced combat, takes a while to get used to, but once you git gud it’s so fucking enjoyable. Not finished yet, I think there’s still 5 missions to go. Love it.
I’ve also started playing AC Unity a few days ago, first AC I’ve played since Black Flag. Bought it when it came out, but never bothered to install it because the reviews where fucking abysmal. I think I’m at sequence 4 at the moment. I think it’s alright, not exceptional but not garbage either, definitely better than some other atrocities that Ubisoft released. Paris is stunningly beautiful, the gameplay and the story are quite vanilla as always, but the technical performance, especially in crowded areas, is horrible. I think I’ll play it every now and then, if I ain’t got nothing to do and I’m the the mood.
