Recently downloaded Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, played a couple of hours, seems decent actually, I like how smooth the animations are with the sword.

Level design is shit in this game. I heard the second game is better, but I'm not really interested in SW, so I don't know if I'll play it

Agreed the level design is bad, I'm only on my first map and it's very noticeable. I too am not interested in Star Wars but still can play and enjoy it.

Alan Wake 2 is coming. There are strong rumors about The Last of Us Part 3, Bloodborne 2, Days Gone 2. Seems like 2024 would be a lovely year.

Days Gone 2 isn't coming, there are multiple interviews were the main head of the studio is still crying about not making DG2.

2023 will be the year of new Zelda (out now) and Baldur's Gate 3

Really looking forward to Spiderman 2 and the new Final Fantasy. I guess I'll have to buy a ps5 sooner than later, though I'd rather spend the money upgrading my PC. I just would rather not wait out for the pc ports.

Ghost of Tsushima is okayish. I think Elden Ring ruined open world games for me. Atm I'm replaying Witcher 3 and I'm not even doing anything else but the quests.

This year has really been the "I have no time" year. But that's okay, gaming is not the only important thing in my life

I wish I could completely pause life for a month and revisit The Witcher 3 with attention it deserves.

Anyway, remake of System Shock is out on PC (and some consoles). It's a spiritual predecessor to Bioshock so it might be worth checking out if you liked those games.

Yeah but it's basically the same game than before. It looks better and has the better physics, but it's very much a 1994 game which could be not suitable for modern audiences.

Hopefully they also remake System Shock 2 which is the real parent of Bioshock, Thief, Deus Ex and Prey.

I mean anything that requires a modicum of thinking and doesn't have quest markers and drawn pathways towards finishing a quest is not suitable for modern audiences anymore.
It's hard not to lament what video games have become.

I would lie if I didn't think Prey is a more fun example of what System Shock can be.

FromSoft games don't have quest markers, not even quest logs but it kinda works for them, you play to discover yourself, not for everything to be given on a platter.

There are also new indie games that are trying to fake Baroque's and King's Field's gameplay, it's hard and unforgiving.

With games like Hollow Knight, Returnal and NORCO, I still have faith in gaming. Just the right amount of new and old concepts

That's fine, I'm not even that big of a SS fan.
Dungeon crawlers like King's Field will always exist as those are a fairly niche games, they were like that in the 90s too. But games like those you listed in the previous post used to be prestigious, big-budget AAA games back then, and nowadays they are indie releases.

FromSoft were incredibly lucky to have caught the momentum when livestreams became a thing. They owe 99% of their popularity to websites like twitch, had that not been a thing they would've been making low-budget games that never got on anyone's radar to this day. One Demon Souls barely cracked 1m sold copies on PS3 back then.

Star wars fallen order was really good but level design annoying

Ghost of tsushima is brilliant. Takes a while to get going.

I started playing AC odyssey after rewatching troy. It's very good, the graphics are insane. Though the level up system is annoying me. Higher level enemies smash you because you do 0 damage and the game makes you do side missions and gives you fuck all xP.

1mil in for a game from 2009 is not that bad for a new IP

FromSoft is also lucky that they went BALLS IN with the concept and could keep some of the animations and weapons from DS and DkS that are used even in Elden Ring. By 2015 when Bloodborne launched, they were already THE studio. After that came Dark Souls 3, Sekiro and Elden Ring. What a fucking run of games.

Unbelievable ! How did I ignore such a great game Until Dawn all these years ! It's like I'm in a movie while playing. The game mechanics suck but I can't blame a 2014 game for that alone.

Great fucking game... At least i very much enjoyed it also has a high replay value as your choices actually matter....

it was part of the PS5 collection of games I just never got around to playing it.

Still trying to beat GOd of war 2..... tho really lost interest. Might just play Witcher 3 again haha
