Made a bit of a mistake on that punchout but very good reflex save on Scamacca's shot. Did well on Lookman's effort too, as conditions were not the best and low shots are more dangerous in these conditions than usual.

Apart from his shot stopping ability, I like how professional he is. When he has a clear option to pass, he does it, otherwise he just sweeps the ball away. No unnecessary risks.

Sommer and Inter lead Europe’s elite for clean sheets
No other goalkeeper in Europe’s top five divisions has kept more clean sheets in all competitions this season than Inter’s Yann Sommer thanks to the team’s 1-0 victory over RB Salzburg in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Wednesday’s shut-out brings Inter’s tally clean sheet tally up to nine for the season, including two in Europe and seven in Serie A. Sommer has not missed a minute of competitive action so far in 2023-24.

Focusing just on league action, Inter and Sommer also have the joint-second best defensive record out of the 96 teams in Europe’s top five divisions with six conceded from 11 matches. Juventus share the same record, while Ligue 1 outfit Nice have let just four in so far this campaign.

In terms of his defensive record, Sommer has also improved on the early results recorded by last season’s no. 1 Andre Onana.

The current Manchester United stopper had kept a still-impressive tally of seven clean sheets in his first 15 games, conceding 18 goals in total, while Sommer is up to nine clean sheets and just eight conceded from his first 15.
Keep up the good work Yann!

I'm really satisfied with his performances, great professional, focus, he never panick.

But I think we should add our impressive defensive core to the table for those numbers, especially De Vrij, Darmian, Pavard and Hakan.

Man, we have one of the best defense and best midfield in Europe whithout them being "big names". I am so proud.

I'll say it now, Sommer has been our best signing of the season. Most of them are good, but Sommer has been something else.

We'll agree to disagree, there are certain things that Thuram could do better, but I can barely say the same for Sommer.

Long balls. He almost never hits our players with these

The thing I like about him is even our d line took care of most of the threats the few threats that were leaked, he is always ready and kept us in.

He's been amazing but Thuram's impact is superior. We are far more competitive with Thuram up front. He's been exceptional in most of matches he's played, whether it was goals or contribution in build-up play.

Sommer was solid as rock but our defence makes things easier for any goalkeeper.

His placement on Frosinone most dangerous situation (hitting the post) is perfect : He gave a single angle to the attacker so that if he wants to evade Sommer, the shot becomes off target. It was on the post but on the external side.

We'll see by the end of the season. I have a feeling Sommer will have a higher overall rating than Thuram.

Would that prove Sommer had a more positive impact or is that unfair because Thuram will have some games he comes on later that will negatively impact his rating?

I really rate Thuram and Pavard as well, Frattesi is okay, CA looks like a potential baller, others are average at best. So far our transfers worked out beautifully.

I'd say Thuram's infulence is even higher than Pavard. Both him and Sommer were amazing so far, also CA had some really impactful matches, Frattesi was somewhat okay but Thuram was brought as a starter in a very delicated department. Arnautovic just came back from an injury, Alexis is very inconsistent, so that automatically increases Thuram's reputation in our line-up.

Sommer is a goalkeeper so it's a different case, but we do have quality replacement in case of Pavard's absence. I do appreciate all of them actually. Can't write anyone off yet.

We'd face real problems in case of Thuram's or Lautaro's long-term injury, so hopefully they stay injury free.

Yeah, as long as Lautaro, Thuram and Sommer can feature, we have a chance to get a scrappy win against most teams.

From the new outfield players, Thuram has been the most impactful, that is for sure.

Wanted to give this guy some credit. His passing game looks a lot better compared to the beginning of the season. Not that he made too many mistakes at the beginning but he looked shaky passing out the ball a few times. He seems to be in tune with our movement and makes the right passes most of the time. He'll never be Onana but I don't think his passing has been an issue - he has fit in well imo.

Its not been mentioned a lot our goal started from an amazing pass by him.
Sommer also contributed going forward, as his long ball sparked the move for the Lautaro Martinez equaliser:
“They didn’t make too much pressure on me, so I had time to see which option was the best one. After that, you can see the quality we have upfront with one and two touches.” - Yann

Sommer: ‘Beautiful to play with Inter defence’

“In the second half you could see both teams didn’t want to take too many risks, they were compact, solid, more or less no chances from both sides,” Sommer told DAZN.

“We conceded the goal first and it’s difficult against a team like Juventus that is so defensively strong. It is good that we got the equaliser straight away and in the end it’s a good point for us.”

Even without the injured Benjamin Pavard and Alessandro Bastoni, Inter confirmed their excellent defensive record and Sommer has already enjoyed eight clean sheets in 13 Serie A rounds.

“I have to say as a goalkeeper it’s beautiful to play behind a block like we have. When you have a lot of high-level games in a season, it is key to concede few goals. You saw today, it was a tactical game, not a lot of chances.

It’s amazing how much we communicate, how compact we are and for me as a goalkeeper it’s wonderful.”
Glad that he's enjoying life in Milano, seems to have adapted very well.
