I would definitely like to see Higuain come here. In my eyes he would be very well suited to the league and the team, and he does seem a bit Milito-esque. The strong Argentinian base in our team would also integrate him very quickly to the environment.

However I don't really think Real will let him go after this season...I'd see them letting go more of Benzema than Higuain, but Real is a circus at the moment, so you never really know what they're gonna do.

IMO I see the striker situation as all depending on Balotelli and whether he will leave. If he doesn't I just don't think we can get a famous striker because he will obviously want MUCH more playing time...In any case if he stays maybe the best solution would be to bring a young striker in to gain some experience, like Destro...

Agreed, for me Higuain>>>>>>Aguero, he would be the much more sensible buy, cheaper and better suited to our playing style. But Valdano has already come out and said it's all hogwash, Higuain will stay and they are working on a new contract for him.

Question: can Higuain play in a wide role (I haven't seen much of him but he seems similar to Milito)? If not there is absolutely no point in looking at him. We need to look at attackers who can play in wide positions, not 75,624 centre forwards...

What's going on with Acquafresca? Does he still belong to us?

This isn't a rumor but would anybody else want to see Radamel Falcao at Inter?

Already have Milito and Eto'o to play CF, both of whom are better than Falcao. Falcao is a good player and will probably leave Portugal soon, a la Lisandro.

From what I have seen is Higuain more on the right side but has never taken a defensive position. He is good in dribbling the ball in and making quick passes near the box which is what our attackers also look to do.

I think he is well capable of developing the tracking back mechanism, he has he ability.

What bugged me most about him was him missing good clear chances in the matches that mattered the most and those chances in the end should've been decisive. Atleast our Diego puts one away.

A few seasons back when Higuain first started coming on to the scene he didn't strike me as a good player...I initially rated him as another one of Madrid's useless and not-so-good signings they kept on making a few seasons back.

However as the years passed from 2007 onwards he has made massive improvements to his game, as shown by this season alone. He is still young and therefore has much to learn, so I definitely agree with Suneet, that he will improve in the future. I also think that with our strong Argentinian environment and the overall style of Serie A which fits so well with many Argentinian players would really help Higuain take his talent off the charts. Plus I wouldn't be too worried with his lack of finishing in big games...if he'd come here he would learn from the very best, Milito!

Higuain started off his Madrid career as a right winger/midfielder because Raul and Ruud were the prefered gusy up front, he can play the position adequately but nothing special.

Anyway I agree with A.l.i. his finishing (and overall decision making in the final third) is a MASSIVE concern, don't know how many of you guys saw the Madrid-Lyon game at the Bernabeu but he F'd up big time. It's not often you can say a single player cost his entire the team the game but Higuian did that time, he refused to pass to Ronaldo on at least 2-3 clear cut chances in the box, then he was one on one with the keeper he shoots but instead of following it up in case of a rebound he decided to run off and start celebrating, needless to say the shot hit the post and rebounded out.

But he's still a 20+ goals a season striker and will improve....

The Higuaín - Ronaldo thing is because they hate eachother, at least Higuaín hates Ronaldo. He's been waiting for his chance for two years without saying a thing, he gets it and when he starts playing well everything is because of Ronaldo according to the press. I remember a game earlier this season when Higuaín scored 2 goals and assisted the other two (Kaká and Ronaldo) and Marca and As had on their frontpage: Ronaldo and Kaká save Real Madrid!
He's been mistreated by the club for too long I think and he probably wants to leave.

If that truly is the case and he does indeed feel under-appreciated, I could see him come here or at least us make a bid for him...like I said I believe he would be beneficial to us...

Unfortunately these speculations haven't been backed up by concrete information, so I doubt our chances of realistically getting him...however Real Madrid is currently a circus, so i have no idea what they could do...

And about Giuseppe Rossi...I've been a longtime admirer and have been wanting him at our club for a while. He showed some glimpses of talent in the Confed. Cup, and has been unlucky this season due to having suffered personal problems...

I'd love to see him here and I hope he has a good WC, but unfortunately if he returns to Italy I see Juventus and his childhood club Milan making more of a bid for him than us...still...let's see what happens

Never get impressed by the guy, about Villareal I think that Nilmar is waaay better.
Rossi will be a Juventus or Napoli target for me.

If Balo stays we don't really need a top striker. Arna is too expensive to be our 5th forward, maybe we'll see Destro promoted. I assume Coutinho will trade places with Quaresma

I agree, the situation with our attack all depends on Balotelli...if he leaves then obviously we need another striker, preferably world class, but if he stays, buying a good striker would be pointless and would cause friction in the team as Balotelli would obviously want to compete for the first team and not be a bench player anymore...

If Balotelli leaves I would like to see a famous striker join us, but if he stays then IMO we should invest in a young striker, or promote a youth player, preferably Destro. Destro would be our 5th striker and he could begin acquiring valuable first team experience, at an early age...IMO if we can raise him properly and give him chances maybe in the Coppa games, he could develop to be an excellent striker later on...

Striker question is interesting. If we assume Balotelli stays, what do we need then? We have four strikers then, Milito, Eto'o, Balotelli and Pandev. IMO everything depends on the coach we're gonna have next season. And more specifically what kind of formation he intends to use.

If continue with 4-2-3-1, IMO we need one striker. That is because as default we are going to use 3 of 4 our current strikers in the starting XI. Then it's up to coach's preferences, do we need target type of striker or more forward type, who is capable of playing on the wing like Eto'o/Pandev/Balotelli.

With two-striker system we don't need another striker. Then we can use Destro (if he doesn't go on loan) if we are desperately short of strikers.
