Looks like he will be in all our cups game, and Handa will be for Serie a; not a bad way to use them this year.
I think he will stay and it would be Handa's last year for holding the majority of play time, might even gradually decrease through out this year.
I think this is a good transition, so I think he will stay.

Even personally I would want him to start most of our games, but Handa really still offers, cannot deny that.

Yeah I think this has to be a swan song year for Handa, at least as a starter. He could still probably start somewhere else, but it’s up to him.

Onana needs to groomed into the starting job this year. I think playing him in cup games (where he already has a lot of experience) is a good idea.

Handanovic’s performances are steady but he won’t win you the title. Onana appears to have the ability to compete with Maignon. Also, pay attention to the defence when Onana is playing, they take more risks and move higher up the pitch.

Noticed this as well.
It is like the defenders are more confident to let him "staying alone", or maybe it is just his way in organizing the defense.
Anyway, it's good to have him, I'm starting to feel he's a good addition to the squad.

Also has to do with Onana's passing range compared to handa. Not saying handa is bad at passing but he is limited to short or punting the ball for the cf.

If we go back to Handanovic on Saturday then Inzaghi is an actual moron by the way. You can see how happy the defence are with him tonight.

Still a major, major fuckup on the disallowed Barca goal which I would have slaughtered Handanovic for. Got lucky there.

This guy needs to improve his decision making, but no doubt he better than handa for the moment, i think the defenders is also feeling more confident with him...

Loved his communication etc in the box and the energy he brought to the backline. My heart stopped at every cross he went out for lol please let's get him training those.

He should be number one though, he can improve these things. Handa is only going one way and that's down.

Curious to know if opinions would be different if he wasn’t saved by the post against Bayern and last night by var, because thats two fuck-ups already after only two games. Yes he’s the future but, perhaps not just yet.

I wanted FIF to be live during the VAR cancelled goal just to measure the double standards.

Too early to judge him of course. These games don't reflect Serie A in any way.
Bayern, full pedal on defense. Last night we defended well and didn't let Barcelona attack. Was saved by the post in their biggest chance.
Viktoria was a non-event.

In Serie A we play with a much higher line which allegedly Onana thrives at but he's so susceptible to making extra moves with the ball and we allow more open play chances. Which hopefully changes soon.

Man most of fif would be hating on him if that goal stood...
Let me say this it was an obvious blunder and if it stood his rating would drop quite a bit. That being said i really liked his reaction he did not seem shook afterwards and still went for these crosses with confidence.
Yes he needs to improve his play when handling crosses but i did like the way he reacted to the mistake.

Some of his judgement calls were off yesterday
But what do you expect his not playing week in week out.

I'm sure once he gets comfortable behind the defence , those issues would iron themselves out anyways.

I think handa has been a great number for us for many years , but like others have pointed out his just not that good at this level, it's evident our back line thinks the same.
With Onana there was different aura about the defenders

That's an Onana trait, not a result of sitting on the bench.

You can hate on him all you want but he at least moves and doesn't rely on his laser eye to save balls. Not saying Onana is a great goalie, but I'd rather have him than an aging Handa right now and I've been defending Handa for the longest time.

Those misjudged calls reminded me of Handa. But at least Onana leaps.

I wouldn't mind seeing Onana starting in the league as well. One can only hope it will change our horrid goal conceding record with that shaky af defense.
