Well, to me it would be totally ridiculous if Lucas would surpass Coutinho right away without playing a single game in Europe. It really doesn't make any sense that some prospect from Brazil would overcome Coutinho at this point. Coutinho has gone long way in learning the European football, first by trying it in Serie A and then in La Liga.

Simply, Lucas cannot beat Coutinho in the pecking order. That would be totally fucked up.

So, you mean Lucas is above Coutinho in the pecking order in Brazil national team, and he is behind Coutinho in Inter?

Well, yes... for now. Cou has been in European (and more specifically Italian) football for a few years now, as opposed to Lucas's 3 years in Juve youth.

Hence why i don't put much faith at all into statements such as; 'Serie A proven', 'Inter material' or 'European experience'

But he doesn't have too anyway.
If Strama wants Lucas it's clear that he wants him for the 4231 formation and there will be plenty of space for both of them in that tactic.

Anyway i wouldn't bench Coutinho for anyone

So I was reading an article that said the full cost of Lucas is actually 38m when adding the fee for other parties. (38 * 70% = 27 base fee for Sao Paolo). The scary thing about this is the numbers all add up.

Could all the numbers reported by the press have been accurate? Let's take a look.

Man U had a bid of 32m rejected, Sao Paolo rejected claiming 30m was what they wanted for their share (then 80%).

Man U return with a second bid of 38m (38*80%=30), Sao Paolo claim they don't feel like selling him.

Rumor of Branca agreeing a fee with Sao Paolo, It seems they wanted an amount similar to what they would have gotten from Man U. So the arrangement becomes 27+5 in bonuses. Which gets them a better deal than Man U offered. This would put the total price at 38m + 5m bonuses (38*70%=27). Quite a significant investment.

Of course it could also be that all the numbers coming from Sao Paolo are BS, and I would tend to feel that it is.

Why are you so sure that ManU actually made a bid?

Like how they said Chelsea have offered 40 million and now they are saying that they only two teams that bid on Lucas are Inter and ManU.

I honestly don't think ManU made such a large bid.

I agree. I doubt Manchester made a bid that large. I'm guessing all the teams that were interested in him had bid more or less the same amount and were all rejected. the club foolish enough to bid 40 mil would be the club that gets him.

According to Michael's website, Rubenal Rubencio wants 32M and Inter said no, but... Lucas wants Inter.

Well, Lavezzi wanted Inter too & we all know how that story ended.

One quick note here:

If lucas comes and i don't think he will , I don't want to see any of the Fuck Branca gang open a player thread for him...

That right should be reserved for Universe tbh.

Meh. I dont care if we overpay a little bit considering we dont have many options left to sign who are as big in potential as Lucas. Please dont start with Jovetic again. We havent even thought about calling Fiorentina.

This signing is more about intent on the transfer market and to show that we can compete if we really want to. Its been a while. Say what you want about Lucas he is certainly not a crap player. He is a good player with the potential to be great. This is probably the best time for Inter to sign him considering that when he gets too good, our offer wont be even kept on the same table as Man C and PSG.

Honestly we will have to sell someone to sign another midfielder. Guarin, Cambiasso, Obi, Deki, Duncan for 2-3 places. Mariga might come into the frame later. Not discounting the fact that JZ might pop in there occasionally too. There is a more than a decent chance we might renew Maicon as no real offers are coming him.

And gradually we'll move from the 4-3-3 to the 4-2-3-1 if this happens. That is for another thread though.

Ganso and Oscar IMO are slower then Lucas, but They do have great ability to dictate the game compare to Lucas as he is more of a winger/striker
