I like most of the posters here love Coutinho he and if we were to get Lucas in a few years will make everyone forget about having to sacrifice Balotelli. Balotelli is the best talent out of Italy since Gigi Rivera, Bruno Conti, Baggio and Totti in their youth. In a few years he will be recognized as one of the best footballers in the world this is certain. His mentality has changed after this recent European cup where Italia passed expectations. For me the game against Germany changed the player, in front of his step mom and brother the mentality was different; he has a sense of what he should and should not do.

Serie A is a slower more tactical game it will take time to adapt but he has the physical body to do it. Lucas has ok balance, good upper body strength, great technical abilites, and world class speed. The problem for me guys is if u play with a two man holding mid formation u must have balance. Next to a player an all around box to box mid like Guarin u need a work horse a ball winner someone who can cover acres of space(Fernando). Coutinho with Lucas u lack tactical adaptibility. Some one has to sacrafise to help the team. This is where Palacio should start because he is a complete player a workhorse he will do whatever is asked to help the team. With Coutinho and Lucas on the pitch at the same time u will loose some defensive pressure and knowhow.

I would love to see Coutinho start ahead of Palacio. He is more dangerous going forward and in the next couple season he can earn a spot in Rio. Palacio is a versatile player who can do many things. Palacio provides Strama more balance. Wouldnt be a surprise at all to see Lucas Sneijder Coutinho and Palacio to start games. We have great rotation balance and depth in this squad lets hope soon enough we can complete the signing of Lucas and try to improve on the rest of the squad with discounts the last week of the mercato.

With Lucas well find cheap alternative options to round out the rest of our mercato hoping to find discounts the last week. If Lucas comes here he will start to the poster who said he'd be behind Coutinho and Alvarez. Moratti wont make this economic sacrifice for a bench player. Lucas is the perfect fantasia on the right flank he's unmarkable in any kind of space. He will cause defenses to concentrate on him and open up the play for others inter desperately need this kind of player. Noone on our squad has his kind of technical ability, breakaway speed, and potential. He has the body to adapt to Italian football he has good upper body strength. Compare Lucas to when Coutinho came to Inter and Coutinho now Lucas is the more physical player. It will be very difficult for defenses to mark our attack. Strama promised him he'd be a main part of his project. It remains to be seen what formation Strama wants to go with.

lol, I guess you're talking about me. As I said, I don't know him well I guess you know him better. From what I've seen of him I doubt he'll be a starter at Inter, and I'm sure he'll need time to adapt to a new country and style of play. I just don't see Coutinho, Palacio or Alvarez being benched by Lucas, it may happen sure but I don't see it. I think he can be more a super sub taking advantage of his speed when the other teams are tired.

Now you said Moratti won't spend that much on a bench player, but you have to understand Lucas is an investment for the future. I'm pretty sure Moratti knows the kid needs to learn a lot of things yet and will have to adapt first before expecting results from him. He's not buying it to win Serie A this year but for the potential he can develop in 2 or 3 years.

Brazil was playing in Newcastle :) Yeah, i'm sure he travelled 400km across the country and had medical tests 1 hour after the game...I call those rumours bullshit

Doesn't take that long to reach Manc from Newcastle. But I highly doubt this report too. Unless the medical tests were done in Newscastle of course...

if they use private jet though... driving a car from Newcastle to Manchester would take at least 3 hours.

Meeting Branca-Moratti Early Next Week

We are all waiting on the decision of Massimo Moratti regarding Lucas. A decision that could come as early as Monday according to Manuele Baiocchini, Sky journalist.

“The meeting between Moratti and Branca could happen next week, either Monday or Tuesday. The ball is at the feet of Moratti who now must decide. The president must make a decision soon since Manchester United and PSG are there and both of these clubs can offer figures that out of Inter’s budget. Yes, Inter’s offer is lower but because of the excellent relationship between the parties and the desire of Lucas to play in Italy, the Nerazzurri have the advantage.”

It would be ridiculous if we lose Lucas because Branca and Moratti can't organize a meeting in a faster pace than several days after Branca is back from Brazil (I've understood he is already back from there).

based on what i've seen, I'm glad that united will buy him for silly money and we'll still have to spend elsewhere.

lets face it, united paid millions for anderson and look at him now, we all know the deal with brazilian youngsters, some turn out to be great............the rest tend to seriously flop!! the likelihood is that he'll be another over hyped youngster. i'd rather we took that money at threw it at porto for hulk (douglas costa or willian at shakhtar) or someone who is ready to start for us. Coutinho is a better investment in that he has been with us for longer, adapted to europe, serie a and Inter.

we could prob buy van persie for that kind of money too..................what about afellay?

clearly there are so many better options for that money!!!!!

but if we sign, i'll support him and along with coutinho he'll prob be my fave current player for entertainment value.

So Branca is back in Italy from Brazil just to meet Moratti and discuss about Lucas? And then he will go to Brazil again to close the deal if Moratti says ok? I thought these negotiations are held through faxes and e mails?

Surely we aren't wasting time on this guy.. :palm:

We are known about long negotiations so doing something fast would be new.

I think that our only chances to get Lucas are that there is no competition or Moratti/Branca somehow got first option on Lucas.
