From Spain:
Inter held a meeting with current Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone

This according to Spanish news outlet Fichajes, who report that the Nerazzurri held an informal meeting with the current Colchoneros boss during the World Cup break, and that he could be brought in to replace Inzaghi in the event that the Nerazzurri fail to finish this season top four in Serie A.

Simeone’s future in the Spanish capital is very much up in the air, with reports suggesting that he is ready to finally leave Atletico after more than a decade in charge, and that he has told the club’s board as much.
Who would pay for his big ballz salary? Oaktree? :yao:

Of course it's from Todo Fichajes. Literally the worst Spanish source.

Yeah I don't want cholo either. He's ruined the Spanish league with every team trying to replicate his style. It's now the league in Europe with the least goals per game. I don't think it would work here either and his last few seasons have been disastrous
Tico won La Liga 20/21. I would welcome him with open arms and I think he would suit perfectly to Inter and Serie A.

There are reports Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri could be tempted away from the Stadio Olimpico to San Siro next season, with both Milan and Inter considering him for the future
We should have done it before hiring Inzaghi.

Why?

Sarri doesn't seem to be doing too well at Lazio.

I find Sarri a little overrated. I feel like he's one of those coaches that gets praised when his team is in form and 'Sarriball' works but doesn't get as much critique when his teams look out of ideas or are inconsistent. Lazio still have the core from a few years ago but to me they seem the least likely to get that CL spot out of us, Milan, Roma, and Atalanta. I still think that once he's done with Lazio, Simone Inzaghi would have done a better job when we compare each of their times there.

I don't see much difference with the time of Inzaghi at Lazio. Inzaghi had just 1 top 4 finish in 5 years.

Again, that lazio team is straight piss. Immobile is starting to slow down now as well with injuries and age. He carried lazio through the inzaghi years. Hard to judge sarri with such a poor team, they probably are sitting where they should be atm.

Simone won a few cups on top of that.

Lazio always had the 6th largest budget. Bigger margin from 5th to 6th than 6th to 7th even during Simone's time there.

This changed in 2021 where the 6th had twice the budget from 7th (which was Atalanta!) and it was much closer to the 5th.

In the last couple of years the margin from 3rd to 6th is lower than ever. Milan pays much less now than they did in the earlier years for example, closer to the levels of Napoli and Roma. Probably even fell below 3rd spot in the salary costs table.
No team is getting near Lazio now, yet we had seasons with Torino, Fiorentina and a few other teams that were close to Lazio in previous years.

Simone overachieved with Lazio, hence why we got him and why he was touted to take the Juventus job before Allegri as well.

Sarri is doing as expected with Lazio. Hopefully he'll take the next step in Europe, but in Serie A he's not expected to break into the top 4, but he's also not expected to fall below 6th.

Roma on the other hand is one of the worst run teams, as they pay big money to garbage players and it takes a colossal effort to make them a top 4 team. Unless Mourinho manages to clear the house and get proper talent for what Roma is paying, I wouldn't worry about them going for a Scudetto challenge, but they should be targeting a top 4 spot.
Atalanta is just breaking the system with their moneyball Gasperpalla stuff.

I believe he also won the Coppa Italia and perhaps a few Super Cups, alongside making Round of 16 in the CL. I'd also argue Serie A was stronger back then. Napoli is really the only strong team currently and last season was even weaker with Milan winning the league. During Simone's time at Lazio, Conte's Inter, Allegri's Juventus, and Gasperini's Atalanta were all stronger versions compared to those same teams today. I also feel Sarri took over a better Lazio than Inzaghi did when he first became coach.

Not saying that Inzaghi was world class at Lazio, but I've previously seen a few instances of people implying that Sarri's Lazio are on another level compared to Inzaghi's Lazio, which I disagree with. I just feel that Sarri doesn't get as much criticism for things that Simone (and other coaches do). Just like Inzaghi, Sarri also has issues in only playing one system, only ever making like-for-like substitutions, etc. His teams can also go from looking excellent (4-0 vs. Milan), to getting two points in games against Fiorentina, Verona, Atalanta (2 of 3 teams which are either poor or in poor form).

Sarri and Spalletti are basically the same manager to me. Neither are good enough for Inter, but they're both superior to Inzaghi.

Sarri is great imho but I don't think he'd do a better job than Inzaghi given the resources of the club. I can see him do well at Milan if given something like a four season span.

Simeone is exactly the type of manager Inter needs -- he also needs a change of scenery but should take some time off before joining us.

He costs 13m£ + his salary

Out of budget for Inter
If i am a coach, id rather coach Inter for 4 times less than coach Brighton, that can have bunch of money, but still, will never win anything.

De Zerbi is fine. Italian coaches often do well abroad. Not a top tier manager worth a massive salary imo.
