We will know more about how much this point is worth when Benfica and Salzburg play away against them.

I don't know what people expected going to play against one of the better teams in Spain...

Result is what matters at the end of the day and it's one point won. We have two other tricky opponents who probably won't be able to get the maximum but they're better suited for this kind of opposition.
Which becomes tricky for us, because it also means that we're also not exactly a good match for them, all 6 games will be difficult in this group and it's vital that we get 9 points at home.

Okay so De Vrij made the pass to Sommer, who then gives it to Bastoni who miscontrols at first. Then we have this. I don't get this.
De Vrij is in Pavard's spot, slowly returning to the scene, Pavard is returning to cover for De Vrij, Augusto is properly slotted.

Bastoni shouldn't be the player receiving the ball there, but he had to cover for Asllani who was not in his correct zone.

Asllani is being useless 3 meters in front of Bastoni there who doesn't have any option other than to give to Augusto who'll be surrounded by 2 players, hoof it up front or do the silly thing he did.

You see Mkhitaryan in the angle later

We're being overwhelmed here and tactically we're all over the place. You can blame Bastoni, but he had to think of something outside the box there to get the ball out, otherwise we'd give it to Sommer with zero options.

Losing the ball there is obviously the worst of all options, especially with 2-3 attackers riding solo after a defeated Bastoni, but this image is just puzzling for a team that's expected to be tactically sound.

The correct setup there would be Asllani where Bastoni is, Bastoni where Augusto is and Augusto 20 meters more advanced down the left flank. And Barella should be in the picture.

Granted that we just recovered possession there and team was getting back into shape, we need to be quicker here and the tactical meltdown starts from one player not being in the right spot, then everything else fails.

This was such a good match. Many players earned experience and the team got to know its weaknesses and the result was still good.
This kind of match is so crucial for learning. And it is much better to get a draw in the CL group stage, than against Empoli. In Cl we are still favourites to progress, in Serie A draw means lost points.

Tough matches create tough teams.

Did you guys really think we will not play bad eventually? The only thing i saw from yesterday is that Asllani is not worth Inter shirt right now. We are not a developing club, loan him out and see how he turns out.

I really think some of you guys need to come down a peg. Our 5-1 trashing of trash is not really us setting a standard. We have a long way to go and in CL every team plays tooth and nail.
Its not like our substitutes were able to cover for our starters. Its been like these for a couple of years now. Asllani is simply the new Gags, not really his fault, he simply does not have what it takes for us. The draw was more than fair and I for one am really happy with the way we refused to give up and pressed at the end.

Great illustration. I like it. Thanks.

Sure it is not the right setup, and Bastoni shouldn't be receiving the ball, but won't you say for a player like Bastoni should know better just to clear it at this point? Also kinda shows Bastoni cannot play in the middle.

It is not just Asllani is not quick enough to go the right spot, I would say the whole team had position issues, and I don't think it is all start from Asllani that trickles down apart from this incident.

I mean Pavard and Dumfries were quite freestyling too yesterday if you ask me, despite they played well.

Barella and Bastoni up there obviously did too, just didn't have a good end result.

oh please enough with this nonsense. it was a bastoni fuck up and that's it.

you can't lose the ball like that amateurishly. if you have no options, boot it out.

Pavard 5.5? Are these guys fucking retarded?
Sommer was definitely our MoTM but the rating for Pavard is absurd. He was the only player aside from our GK that didn’t look completely rattled. GdS staff started on the drinks early I see.

GdS root for Italian boy Darmian. Nothing suprising here. Pavard will need to perform like world class every game to get good rating from Italian media. 5,5? Laughable

I hate you Limone, at least you had the sense to put in a 3rd attacker in Sanchez, it changed the game which was desperately needed and we managed to steal some points from Real Sociedad

After the derby i thought maybe 352 aint that bad, then this shitshow happened and i realize how much of a problem it truly is.

We are not in Top 5 in Europe. Chill out.
A bit off topic, but we are.

Best team in Italy, nobody better than us in Portugal, only Real and Barca in Spain, only Bayern in Germany, only City in England...

France and psg are a joke.

So, as I said we are arguably a top 5 team in Europe.

Sociedad played really well in Bernabeu too, against top Madrid side so their confidence levels were high. Add there 5 bench players from our side too and there's gonna be problems. I think Inzaghi just wanted to do test on our new purchases, see who will stick to the wall and who will crumble under the pressure. Everyone learned from it. The staff, the main XI and new players. There are no easy games. Salzburg has to be taken seriously. Those 2 matches has to be a 6 pointer no excuses.
