Anyone who can give me some information about Belgrade? Planning on going 3/4 days in october. (I know summer would probably be better). What's the city like? And is it easy to find your way in Belgrade in terms of language etc? Planning on visiting the old fortress and the military museum. Maybe visit a match of Partizan or Red Star and just do some chilling with some hot Serbian girls. Nothing fancy.

Most people under 40 speak english just fine, over 40 is hit and miss. Public transportation is decent and on time, you have local buses going everywhere. Every bus stop has info printed out with bus's line numbers and where they go to. You can buy tickets at any new stand, most people don't even bother with it however.
Fairly low crime, you won't get mugged or anything like that. Avoid taxis if you can, they are vultures and tend to grossly overcharge foreigners. Gypsy beggars are not uncommon, just ignore them.

If you need accommodations and it's only for a few days like you said, renting an apartment per day is likely cheaper than airbnb and the like. Here is a good website for it with pictures and ratings. It works well and its relatively inexpensive, depending on how many people you got with you.

If you like museums and want to see the military museum, I also recommend checking out the aeronautical museum, they have a quite a collection of war planes. It's located near the airport too.

Perfect. I usually don't travel by taxi and try to use public transport as much as possible. Funny as always that people warn me for Belgrade as the chance of being mugged is greater than in the West. These people probably never went to Paris, Amsterdam or Barcelona were you will get mugged as easily. I have the feeling that Balkan cities are safer than some West- European cities.

Thanks for the link I will check it out this weekend. Will it be easy to get tickets for Partizan of they play at home that weekend? Really want to go to a match. Probably spend my time in some Splavs? And I heard if I want to some some plastic p*rnstars I need to spend time at Skadarlija?

Please elaborate on this. You found a website or anyting? I mean if we are there why not try some of the fine local delicacies.

It's definitely safer here and a far lesser chance of anything bad happening to you compared to those other cities you named. Public transport works well like I said, obviously it will be easier if you have a local with you who knows the corresponding names of the bus stops but it's manageable, just use the gps navigation on your phone and step off the bus when you are close to wherever you are going. If you are in a hurry you don't even have to bother with buying a ticket, it's fairly obvious when one of the ticket controllers comes on the bus because half the people immediately exit, plus once they realize you are a foreigner who doesn't speak the language they kind of give up anyway. Very few night-time bus lines so keep that in mind if you stay up late.

Football games here don't really get a whole lot of attendance, we had the Red Star - Partizan derby last week and it wasn't even half-full. You can buy the tickets on the spot easily, no need to pre-plan anything as far as I know. Tickets are inexpensive.

Yes for Skadarlija, yes for splavovi, but do try to time it so that it's Friday or Saturday. One more thing, absolutely do not try to bring in weed with you, or any other type of drugs for that matter when you travel here.

Thanks Dax for the information. The only thing which worries me is indeed the language on information signs etc. But in 2022 you can find anything on your phone so I will be good.

I’m a little bit autistic when it comes to travelling to countries like Serbia. Probably because Serbia is one of the countries who are being portrayed as dangerous and sketchy. So I will buy my ticket like a good citizen. Not meaning to brag but people from my country should pay for public transportation when we travel to countries who has less imo. I already take advantage of the cheap alcohol, food and hopefully womens. Are there any specific clubs you recommend? Or things to see without mass tourism? I always try and find some restaurants or bars with authenticity where I can try and eat/drink some of the local things.

Oh and I never take any drugs with me on vacation. Especially places like Belgrade where they will use me like a rag doll in prison.

All of the buses have tablet terminals that also have english-language interface on them, they state where you are and what your next stop is, loudspeaker also announces it. There are so many intertwined bus lines, they make stops every few minutes so it's not uncommon to have to switch a few lines in order to make your 15 minutes trip to wherever you are going. And if you went the wrong way by accident, you can just step off and wait for another bus. Buses have numbers on them, each bus stop will have a giant poster printed out with numbers that stop on it and time intervals. Moov It app also works well for all the info on the bus lines.
I'm not from Belgrade and don't go there too often so I still struggle to memorize the numbers/lines myself, I typically just ask the first student-aged person I see for the info on the bus number that will take me to wherever I want to go, honestly.

Current government promised to make all public transportation free, some people refuse to pay out of revolt, others can't afford it. When you have to pay every day it kinda adds up. Sometime you are in a hurry and you just forget. You can buy the bus card/ticket at any kiosk or news stand.

Skadarlija street will have bunch of restaurants and live music, you can't go wrong there. For clubs it all depends on what kind of music you like and what is it that you are looking for, splav Freestyler is pretty popular. There is also a website that regularly posts photographs from every club/splav/event so you can see what the places look like in advance. From the top menu go to "slike" (pictures).

And tourist organization of Belgrade has a nice website in English with a comprehensive guide on interesting things to see.

It's bullshit. Apartments are retardedly expensive and anyone with that kind of money can buy property in far more desirable countries and locals can't afford it. Building expenses are insanely inflated too and serve for all sorts of money laundering, god knows how much money was stolen from its budget. It's a paper tiger of a project that serves to gain the ruling party some cheap votes, and ultimately nothing will come out of it.

Anyone following the Volleyball world cup?

3rd place game now between Slovenia and Brazil. Final is Italy vs Poland right after. Should be a blast.

Too many options. Have Serbia vs Italy to watch in basketball which is also now. Then my team in Greece plays @Il Drago team for the Athens derby. Then we have Boca Juniors vs River Plate. Greece is also playing in the Eurobasket vs Czechia (could lose to these guys, they got our number recently). And there's also the women's qualifiers for the 2023 Eurovolley, Switzerland vs Greece but that's getting too much to follow after the respective water polo tournament where we lost to Spain in the final

I heard that the police pretty much killed these guys with their practice.

You can argue that they shouldn't have entered the pitch, but again, police was there to prevent that from happening.

The point was these ultras are dumb as fuck, and that this kind of shit can happen during riot. This wasn't even the first tragedy that happened in indonesian football, they beat up and killed a kid just because he's supported a rival team.

there are other ways of protest, like being at Inter HQ everyday or not going to the matches

invading pitches will always be stupid

This will make my girl reconsider visiting Indonesia. Which is okay, the world is big enough to always find something new to see
